Is beauty really found in the eye of the beholder? I believe the eyes of our society are the ones which most women use to judge themselves through. Women such as Megan Fox, Scarlet Johansson, and Adriana Lima are the epitome of perfection in our society and who girls and woman try to look like. Anyone would be crazy if they said they would not want their beauty, but the problem is how some women want to look and be EXACTLY like these celebrities, and will do almost anything to achieve their goal. Millions of individuals each year are having plastic surgery, Botox, taking diet pills, not eating, working out excessively, and much more just to try and become carbon copies. The media tends to present society with a very unrealistic body type and likes to promote women to look like these sex symbols. Just by watching TV shows, advertisements, and magazines the media portrays a certain body type which they believe women should match. This so-called “perfect body” type causes so many different negative effects on women and they set in place unrealistic goals concerning their body images. The main point I’m making is that the media has a very hazardous influence on a women's health here in the United States. A woman should not feel as if there are no positive attributes she has but they are all negative and need to be changed, just because of what she sees or hears on TV or in magazines. The media is a main factor and reason why women development body image problems. Most women feel insecure about their bodies just by looking at images on magazines, seeing woman on TV, or in movies. Every time you check out at Wal-Mart or the grocery store you cannot help but notice the magazines on the racks which have beautiful, slim, perfect hair and makeup woman on the front cover.
