The significant concept behind Starbucks is not just being the “another” local coffee shop but their goal is globalization which means – Starbucks on every corner of every city of the world and that is how it started. The experience “Starbucks” is about getting the finest coffee and meeting great people in a comfortable place. The company is the leading retailer with 7,500 retail locations in Europe, America, and the Middle East which is rated as one of the most admired companies in America with budget for 2003 exceeding to 4 billion.
The company is committed to corporate social responsibility and every year by report on its initiatives and decisions is proved and this report is also focused on the partners, coffee, customers, profitability, diversity, customers, community and environment. Starbucks gives approximately 74,000 jobs around the world where everyone is a partner of it. The company has the lowest turnover rates of employees because it is crating safe work environment, has training and career opportunities. Starbucks also tries to meet the needs of all customers and communities it serves. In order to achieve that the company had created Urban Coffee Opportunities (UCO) which has to is to bring stores to diverse neighborhoods and as a result at the end of 2003, they had 53 Urban Coffee Opportunities and almost 1,000 employees. Being a diverse supplier of Starbucks there must be met some requirements not only like quality, sustainability, value but also the supplier company should be 51 percent owned or managed by a women, disadvantaged individual, or person representing a minority. Starbucks’ coffee farms, in which the company invests, are located in 20 countries and sustainability is required which means that the beans have to be produced in ecological way.
