There are a lot of requirements asked of an individual when one is looking for a job whether it is a part time or a full time position. Generally, some employers look for certain characteristics that will best benefit their companies. Education plays an integral part in the hiring process, but for some companies, if one does not have people oriented skills, lack of customer service, not a team player, and most importantly a positive attitude, employers won’t even considered hiring such an individual.

As it is in any large company, an employee must have certain qualities and skills, since they are a reflection of that business. This is why it is important that a company makes good, sound, judgments when hiring their employees’ base on their job descriptions. Job descriptions will dictate what qualities and skills are required for that particular position. (Reilly, Minnick, & Baack, 2011) Starbucks employees are no different, they are required to have specific qualities and skills in order to maintain and achieve success. Job specification that a Starbucks employee must have are personality characteristics, technical special skills, a certain level of education and an optional specification would be experience. (Reilly, Minnick, & Baack, 2011) An example of an employee’s position would be the baristas. The baristas are the first employee to interact with the customers. They are responsible for the experience the customer would have at that store. For this reason, the baristas must have good customer services skills. They must be personable, outgoing, self-starter and confident. (Reilly, Minnick, & Baack, 2011) They have to be able to provide a great cup of coffee with a smile on their face no matter how they feel.
