Star Trek Poster Analysis….

Describe the ways I which the images shown in the posters are similar and how they are different. How do the images on the poster give us an idea of what the film will be about? The two pictures on the poster are similar because of the colouring, and because they both contain the same person. The top of the poster is filled by a picture of three of the main characters. Two of these characters are half hidden by the third character. This suggests that they will only play secondary main parts. The third character is also the character in the bottom picture. They are both lined up in the centre as well increasing their similarity. The two pictures are faded into each other in the centre of the page; this gives the effect of them being one picture not two. The pictures tell us that the film is going to be a sci-fi. This is because there is a large spaceship and the colours used are normally used in futuristic films. What do you think the genre of the film is? Give reasons for your answers. The designer has put a flash of light through the title. This gives it the look of a star. This leads you to believe that the film is going to take place in space. How does the poster link in with the message of the trailer? The poster links in with the trailer quite well. We see in the trailer the part of the film where the picture for the poster is taken from. The trailer has the same feel as the poster, is dark and full of action.
