Standing Up
Throughout our history we’ve read about many people standing up for what they believed in and continually making a great impact upon each and every single one of us. Such as, Martin Luther King Jr., fought for equal rights or Cesar Chavez who fought for the rights of migrant farm workers. In our lives we deal with tasks that build our character whether it takes a positive or negative effect. At some point in our young lives we deal with peer pressure, bullying and whether or not to stand up for what we believe in.
Standing up not only does it help you be confident with yourself but it creates a leader within the eyes of others. At some point I too had to stand up for what I believed was the right thing to do and that point came when I saw my friend being bullied by a group of people that seemed like they were up to no good. Many thoughts ran through my head as I seen them getting closer to her. I didn’t know whether to ignore the situation or act upon it and help.
Moreover I did not want to be silenced, I wanted be that voice that helps encourage people to take action. As I walked over to her I noticed that the situation was getting noticed by the people around. At that point the bullies silenced themselves to realize that my friend wasn’t alone. Since the situation was noticed by many people the bullies didn’t have anything to say but decided to walk away. At that point I knew that standing up for what I believed in was easier than what it looked like and it made a huge change.
The people around me where glad to know that people still stood up for each-other. They stated they we’re inspired by my actions, to have a voice. I wasn’t only happy that my actions inspired other but I was happy that my friend was safe. At that moment I realized that it’s the little things that make a huge impact. I made a huge impact in my friend’s life.
Standing up is not always easy but the outcome is worth it. I didn’t impact the world like Martin Luther King Jr. or Cesar Chavez but

The hardest part about standing up for one’s rights is that everyone else may agree with the government’s prejudiced beliefs. Society is often guilty for persecuting entire races, sexes, and nationalities; it’s not just their leaders. Inequality is so common that it can be witnessed daily. Individuals should still try to abolish these ideas no matter the consequences or how hard it may be. The United States of America has a declaration of independence that…

People in history gave their lives for you to receive certain rights today. They are said to be norms and morals, instead of rights in our current society. The thought of women outside the kitchen was unthinkable a couple years ago. Not only women but also certain racial groups and classes were suppressed as well. However, there were many individuals that obtained the bravery to stand up to do what was right. Carrie Chapman Catt fought for women’s rights and suffrage, because, just like Little Rock Nine, she believed equality was everyone’s privilege, that it could be gained with non-violence and despite the obstacles faced they gained help from others.…

The bullies in this case are the perpetrators, their job is to make the victim feel bad about themselves, making the victim feel worthless. The other classmates who utterly watch the kid get bullied don’t help at all. Factors such as fear of the bully going after you later can make the bystanders feel as if they don’t have a voice. It is important to be brave in cases like these, simply because bystanders are the victim’s only chance of survival.…

“You’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” ~Wayne Gretzky. It is important to take a stand for what you believe in because that is how change happens. If nobody took a stand, then the world would still be ran by kings and monarchies. For example, during the 1700s in modern day eastern America, back when England ruled the colonies, people took a stand from England and won. Everybody thought it was going to be a cake walk for the England super power, but the colonist won.…

To start off I will focus on the bystander point of view. I see three types of bystanders, the first kind of bystander I will point out will be the kind that doesn't do his part to help out. I don't see people being bullied here but I've seen people being bullied somewhere else and it's never fun, I've seen a crowds of people just standing around and laughing while someone is being beat up in a fight. And the second type of bystander are the ones that help the bully. I've seen bully starting a fight with a kid for no good reason and other kids pushing the already hurt kid back into the fight. The third type was expected by most but this type of bystander will try to stop the fight, or report the bully, help the kid who's been bullied.…
