However the form of examination for Physics stated in this booklet was first implemented in the 2001 examination as announced through a circular, Pemberitahuan MPM/2(AM)/2000. Aims
This syllabus aims to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of physics to enable them to further their studies at institutions of higher learning or to assist them to embark on a related career and also to promote an awareness among them of the role of physics in the universe.

Objectives
The objectives of this syllabus are to enable students to (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) know, understand, and use models, law, principles, concepts, and theories of physics; understand, interpret, and use scientific information presented in various forms; solve problems in various situations; analyse, synthesise, evaluate, and deal with information and ideas logically and critically; plan and carry out experiments scientifically and make deductions; know techniques of operation and safety aspects of scientific equipment; develop proper attitudes and values in the study and practice of science.

Elementary Knowledge
Candidates will be assumed to have a good grounding of basic concepts of physics from the study of science up to SPM level or its equivalent. Candidates will also be assumed to have acquired mathematical skills up to SPM Additional Mathematics or its equivalent.
