TITLE: How to Prevent and Get Rid of Bad Breath

SPECIFIC SPEECH PURPOSE: To inform my audience of the different ways on how to prevent and get rid of bad breath, and a brief explanation and/or a sample case for each.

THESIS STATEMENT: Bad breath, clinically known as Halitosis is a condition that can actually be prevented, or if already acquired, can possibly be treated.

INTRODUCTION

ATTENTION STEP: Who among the people present in this room thinks that he or she has or ever had bad breath? Well, I do. And I believe that majority of you probably do, too. But I also believe that it is one of the most likely embarrassing things to admit. And telling someone that he or she has bad breath could not get easier. But consider it or not, bad breath is actually experienced by everyone, if not, almost everyone.

CLARIFICATION STEP: So now, you might have already some guesses on what I am going to talk about. I am actually going to present to you very helpful ways on how to prevent bad breath. Or if you think you have already acquired it, then you will be happy to hear some of its known treatment.

BODY

I. Bad breath or Halitosis is a term used to describe noticeably unpleasant odors exhaled in breathing. It is estimated to be the third most frequent reason for seeking dental aid, following tooth decay and periodontal disease.

II. There are simply 10 familiar ways on how to prevent bad breath A. Get regular dental checkups and treatment.
B. Watch what you eat.
C. Drink plenty of water.
D. Avoid alcohol.
E. Don’t smoke
F. Avoid coffee.
G. Brush your teeth daily.
H. Floss daily.
I. Use a tongue scraper.
J. Use oxygenating mouth products.
1. Choose a good toothpaste.
2. Include an oral rinse.
3. If needed, invest on a sinus drop.
