Special Place
The Lake
Everyone has that special place they can go to where they can feel at peace and can be able to think about things or make decisions about their life. For me, that special place is a lake that was down the street from my house. At first, when we were kids my cousins and I would always go there just to hang out and play games. Them as I got older I would go there to think about the things that have been going on in my life. I have some of my most memorable memories from that lake.
While I was walking with my cousins one day we discovered a trail that we never really paid attention to, we decided to follow it because we were just too curious to see where it led. That’s when we discovered the lake; we were so mesmerized by how beautiful it looked, the water had all these trees surrounding and the rocks weren’t like the ugly one like the ones in my driveway. To and my cousins it looked like it could be in a movie scene because how perfect it looked
After that first day, me and my cousins would go there every weekend and just let our imagination run wild. We would make up games, and pretend we were in a whole other world. Time always went by fast when we were there. Every time we went there we would forget about what’s been going on in our lives and the only thing that exists is us and whatever game we were playing that day. That’s what the lake did for us: it let us forget about everything.
As time went by and we got older we stopped going to the lake to play games instead we went there to clear our minds and talk about things that have been going on with us. That’s the thing I loved most about the lake it brought me and my cousins closer together.

With all the memories I have with that lake it has become my most special place. That’s what a special place is it’s where you can go to feel calm or where you can go back and relive all the happy memories that you have shared there. I wouldn’t want to trade my special for the anything in the world.

The water glistened off the sun like a polished pearl. After strolling up to the shore, she gazed at the astounding view. She hopped into ice-cold liquid, and felt a chill crawl up her back. “How does it feel,” yelled a far off voice. “It feels great… jump right in,” she lied. She thought about how Lake Holcombe allows people to be themselves, spend time with family, and become stronger mentally and physically.…

Lake Rudolph gave me a lot of moments that I will never forget for the rest of my life. One incident that was memorable was an incident about me being stupid. For instance, at Lake Rudolph you could rent golf carts to around the premise. Most places at Lake Rudolph were accessible by driving the golf cart around. So it was logical for us to rent one. The third and final night we were there, my family was riding around in the golf cart, enjoying the cool summer night. While in the golf cart, I asked my mom if I could take the golf cart for a spin. She said yes and I took over the wheel. For the first few minutes, I was fine. But as I was driving down a little hill, a patrol cop came up the hill. As soon as I saw him I flopped out of the cart…

In the essay, “Once More to the Lake” by E.B White, a father returns with his son, to a vacation lake in Maine, where his father used to take him when he was younger. When the father spends time there with his son, he begins to reminisce on the experience he shared at the lake with his own father. The thought of immortality and timelessness tricks the narrator into believing no time has passed. While the father is referring back to these memories, the author makes a transition from fantasy to reality. Eventually, the father identifies differences in what his son experiences at the lake and what he experienced at the lake when he was a child. The…

The essay “Once More to the Lake” by E.B. White was about a man who had a great sense of nostalgia after he reminisces old childhood memories of a lake in Maine. The author begins to feel a sense of immortality and is in denial of the fact that he’s not a child anymore. He begins to realize that we cannot relive or recreate our childhood, only visit the locations it took place. Throughout White’s essay, he begins to convey his confused and deniable emotional roller coaster towards mortality.…

White appears to have arrived at a point in his life as an adult where he is tired of the hustle and bustle of his life and remembers the fun and also the peaceful times he had as a child at the lake. As a child, he and his family went there for the entire month of August every year because “none of them ever thought there was any place in the world like that lake in Maine” (163). White has not found another place that comes close to giving the same sense of pleasure that he and his family experienced at the lake in Maine. He wants to share this with his son so that he can experience the same sense of freedom that he had experienced as a child. White describes his trip and the arrival at the lake both in the present time and as he perceived it to be in his childhood. He shows the reader the many differences that have occurred to the area surrounding the lake. The road is now paved and goes the entire way to…

Is there a place that you go to just to think or feel relaxed? Everyone has a place like that and the Delaware River is that place for me. When I first moved to Pennsylvania seven years ago, I loved that I was going to live near a river. I had never lived so close to any body of water before. After about one year of living in Easton, Pennsylvania, my mom and I had decided to have a picnic every year alongside the Delaware River. We would sit on the grass with the sun warming our faces and just watch the water in the river flow until it fell down the waterfall. The Delaware River provides a place for me to think and it’s also a great place to go if you want to relax.…

My special place is the country in Bristow, Oklahoma. When I am in the country I hear the goats “baa-ing”, the stomping of their feet hitting the grass, the pigs snorting, rolling around in the mud, and the dog barking. I see my two children running around messing with the dog and running away from the daddy goat. My dad and grandpa are drinking beer and messing with a car or staring at each other. The baby goats are following their mother around everywhere. There is nothing but green grass and a bunch of energy from the animals. I smell goat poop, the pig’s nasty, natural smell they have and the fresh, beautiful, dirt road air all at the same time. I see green grass, a bunch of big, green trees, and pretty flowers bloomed. I walk behind the…

Every person has at least one significant place that is cemented in their memory more than others. No matter where it is, it appears much more richly in our minds than most other places, and triggers a series of emotions and recollections. Some of the most prominent memories of my childhood spring from my family’s annual Christmas spot in Paris Landing state park. This little stretch of cabins in the woods is one of the most vivid and precious memories I have.…

The trail out back the beauty of nature and the smell of the fresh air. The leaves they’re falling all around you. As you walk the trail leads you to a big waterfall that not many people know about. As you just sit on the rock and watch the leaves fall while the sun sets it’s the most beautiful thing you could ever see. Listening to the birds make their music while lying on the rock besides the water. It’s calm and relaxing; However it can get a bit chilly. Sometimes if you take the four wheeler or dirt bike out back Zoey will run along side of you. Zoey is our dog she runs just as fast as the four wheeler does. Then I imagine of being a little girl again going out back with my dad. We used to catch salamanders on our way to where we were going.…
