“Earth’s future lies in space exploration”
Good afternoon class and Mr.Nunan. Welcome to the debate discussing, “Earth’s future lies in space exploration.” I am your first speaker for today and I will be arguing for this topic. Throughout my argument you will hear me arguing the fact that Space Exploration has many advantages lying ahead of Earth’s future such as, resources, discovering other life and somewhere to live. My second speaker and third speaker will also provide you with more information and statistics.
Resources. Space has oodles of resources there for the taking, if we only develop the technology to harness it. Within rocket's reach there are light buckets full of intense solar energy, at least out to Mars. Then there are valuable materials on the Moon, as well as on Mars and its moons. Near Earth asteroids offer yet another mother lode of minerals. At present, the vast gulf of space prohibits access to these treasures, but a loosely knit group of like-minded experts believe that by tapping the rich resources of space, humanity's foothold on other worlds will be far more secure and long-lived. Off-world resources can be transformed into oxygen, propellant, water, as well as used for construction purposes and to energize power stations. Without resources we will all die thus the reason why Earth’s future relies on space exploration.
Secondly, Earth’s future deeply relies on other life. This may seem quite weird but in fact it is true. Other life forms may know things that we don’t know. They could have explored much more of the universes than us and therefore might know if there are asteroids heading towards Earth which could kill us all. Therefore, we can borrow their knowledge. They might have a cure for all cancer, which can save many, many lives which is another reason why Earth’s future may lie ahead in space exploration.
When this world finally gets too close to the sun or too... [continues]
