South Korea, officially known as Republic of Korea (ROK) and shortly known as Korea is located in East Asia on the southern portion of Korean Peninsula. Korea lies between China to the north and Japan to the southeast. Korea covers a total area of 99,392 square kilometers with the population of 50 million and the capital city is Seoul.
