Song Analysis Five for fighting 100 years
I'm 15... for a moment

Caught in between 10 and 20

And I'm just dreamin'

Countin' the ways to where you are

I'm 22... for a moment

And she feels better than ever

And we're on fire

Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to lose

15... There's never a wish

Better than this

When you've only got a hundred years to live

I'm 33... for a moment

Still the man, But you see I'm a they

A kid on the way, babe

A family on my mind

I'm 45... for a moment

The sea is high and I'm heading into a crisis

Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to lose yourself

Within a morning star

15... I'm all right with you

15... There's never a wish

Better than this

When you've only got a hundred years to live

Half time goes by

Suddenly you're wise

Another blink of an eye, 67 is gone

The sun is getting high

We're moving on

I'm 99... for a moment

Dying for just another moment

And I'm just dreamin'

Countin' the ways to where you are

15... There's still time for you

22... I feel her too

33... You're on your way

Every day's a new day

15... There's still time for you

Time to buy and time to choose

15... There's never a wish

Better than this

When you've only got a hundred years to live.

100 Years by Five For Fighting

Theme:

In this song, the writer is combining partly a love song, 'Countin' the ways to where you are', partly saying how fast your life goes, 'half-time goes by, suddenly your wise, in the blink of an eye, 67 is gone'. The whole song is going through the singers life, and picturing every part of it and basically telling you to value your life for it goes really fast. The line, 'I'm 45... for a moment, the sea is high and I'm heading into a crisis' is talking bout mid-life crisis's, and the line directly after, 'Chasing the years of my life' is talking about how people react to their mid-life crisis. The easy cliché shows them going out to buy a sports car, but

Twenty One Pilots is an alternative/indie band made up of two members, Joseph and Josh Dunn. They are known to occasionally rap and include specific tempos and beats that correspond with each song’s thought provoking lyrics. In the song “Oh. Ms. Believer” by Twenty One Pilots they use the analogy of snow to describe a young girl going through depression. The band accurately describes the feeling of being trapped inside one's mind as they go through the hardships of this mental illness. Although at first this song may be interpreted as another cliché alternative hit, the meanings hidden beneath the lyrics are sure to tug at the listener's heart strings as he/she looks through the eyes of someone who struggles with a loved one who is depressed.…

The song that represents me from the Husky Band playlist would be Uprising. It’s a little difficult to put the “how” into words, as the words of the song only represent me a little, but the musical journey it takes you on is what I think describes myself. First and foremost, many people take others based on first impressions. I can easily be described as a quiet and awkward person, and for a lot of people they don’t see those as qualities that can succeed - especially in a position that aims to make sure the crowd is pumped. But look where I am now, I’m a third year in my second year as squad leader and planning to audition for section leader - something I’m sure many people wouldn’t have expected in my rookie year. I’m still incredibly quiet, but it just goes to…

You have a home, but they don’t. You live in peace, but they don’t. You have a family, but they don’t. They are the people who endure the bitterness of society; war, poverty and discrimination. Then there are the children wedged in the difficulties of life, their dreams torn apart by the hands of selfish monsters. The monster that is tearing apart lives is what we call child abuse. This is our world. And it’s your choice if you want to change it.…

There are wires growing out of everyone’s ears. That is, to listen to music. Music is an infinite source, whether that source is for lifting up spirits, expressing underlying pain and anger, or just merely a distraction. Music from well-developed Broadway musicals to a series of beats at a party, it is something we all have done: listen to music. Some even say that music defines us but it that really true? Is our music the soundtrack of who we each are? Do what we listen to support our core values in life? To answer this I sought out the one song I listened to most, “This Kiss” by Alex Days and Carrie Hope Fletcher, and interpreted its lyrics to see if it matched with my core values of commitment, happiness, and love.…

I’ve decided to do my in-dept analysis based on clips from the reality television show entitled, Love & Hip Hop New York. I thought this would be the perfect show to analyze because it is not fiction; it includes real life people and events. Throughout my analysis I will show how white privilege, internal and external racism, and sexism are all factors that people are faced with on a daily basis without even realizing it.…

In the songs “Jolene” by Dolly Parton and “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, we are shown two women’s take on infidelity. One perspective shows us a woman’s vengeance, and her reaction to being betrayed, but does so in a way that is light-hearted and slightly comical. The other paints a much more personal and vulnerable picture, it’s Dolly’s plea to the “other woman”. Both of these perspectives are easily relatable to the listener, because we have all felt broken, we have all felt vengeful, and we have all felt the breath of fresh air after you pick yourself up.…

The speaker opens the song with expressing her desire of a conveyance, that takes her away from her present surroundings. She is longing for somebody to rescue her, a company that takes her into a better life, where she can be able to start all over again. With her statement "you got a fast car", the speaker is rather putting emphasis on the term "fast" than on the car itself. One can feel her urgency of breaking out of her old life, which seems to take away all her air for breathing and almost crushing her to death. Leaving behind her everything, the speaker wants to "finally see what it means to be living".…

Lieder ohne Worte (Song without Words) is written by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is a collection of forty-eight short lyrical piano pieces of markedly song-like character that he wrote at various periods of his life between 1809 and 1847. They are well suited to the study of musical form because of their artistic value. Op. 19b, No. 1 Andante con moto in E major was written in 1830 and is the first in the collection. The piece is in the key of E major and modulates from E to B to G major.…

The jazz style that “Take Five” resembles most is cool jazz or west coast jazz. This song features light and soft tones with simple melodies. This song has a slow tempo with a smooth and relaxed feel to it. These are all important characteristics of cool jazz. “Take Five” has a unique time signature that is not found in cool jazz or any other types of jazz. This song does have some swing influences as well as the classical influences that Brubeck brings to the music. “Take Five” is an interesting song because the drummer is used for an improvisation in the middle of the song and the piano and bass maintain the rhythm. The alto saxophone establishes a melodic theme in the beginning, which is repeated at the end of the song. “Take Five” is not…
