Soft skills is a sociological term relating to a person's "EQ" (Emotional Intelligence Quotient), the cluster of personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimism that characterize relationships with other people. Soft skills complement hard skills (part of a person's IQ), which are the occupational requirements of a job and many other activities. Soft skills are personal attributes that enhance an individual's interactions, job performance and career prospects. Unlike hard skills, which are about a person's skill set and ability to perform a certain type of task or activity, soft skills relate to a person's ability to interact effectively with coworkers and customers and are broadly applicable both in and outside the workplace. A person's soft skill EQ is an important part of their individual contribution to the success of an organization. Particularly those organizations dealing with customers face-to-face are generally more successful, if they train their staff to use these skills. Screening or training for personal habits or traits such as dependability and conscientiousness can yield significant return on investment for an organization. For this reason, soft skills are increasingly sought out by employers in addition to standard qualifications. They are classified into:

Informative, instructive, explanatory Soft Skills:
the main issue is the conversation, as a message has to be conveyed. Make sure that the attention of all participants is fixed on the subject that has to be passed on. Make sure that everybody is able to hear what is told. The use of presentation material, flip charts or a white board will support verbal information.

Convincing, negotiating, decisive Soft Skills:
convincing, negotiating and decisive Soft Skills are necessary. In order to get a point across it is important to be convincing and firm. At the same time the art is to know when to be convincing or decisive and when enough time has been spent on negotiations.

Listening and monitoring Soft Skills :
Listening is not only a matter of using the ears; it is also a matter of using the eyes. When people are talking they are not only using their mouth to express words, but they also use body language to subconsciously emphasize what they are saying. So, ‘listening’ with the eyes is a way to ‘listen’ between the lines. •Communicative, socializing Soft Skills:

Your relationship with your spouse, children, and friends will deepen. •You will attract like-minded people into your life.

Your example will teach others how they can be more successful. •You will feel that you have more control of your life.
Having them ensures you a place in most of the organizations.

And to develop these skills you can
1. Start doing the little things you already know you should do. You know many of the things you should be doing to develop better relationships, increase your productivity, and be more responsible. So do them. 2. Become a keen observer of others. If Joe got the promotion over Pete, identify the reasons. When you are drawn to someone, ask yourself why. When you begin to trust someone, pinpoint the reasons. If you received excellent service from someone, think about what this person did that impressed you. There is a lot you can learn by watching others. 3. Start living in a state of awareness. Turn off autopilot and start making conscious decisions as you move through your day, especially when interacting with other people. Positive change begins with awareness. 4.
