Little Red Riding Hood and the 3 Little Pigs on the Internet
Introduction
“The Internet constitutes a public benefit, which contributes positively to the economic, cultural, and technological progress of each developed society. We all know t¶his positive side well, but we should point out that the Internet by nature does not guarantee safety for children and young people, because the information retrieved is not always characterized by appropriateness and validity and the identities and the aims of authors are not always obvious”.
Short description¶
Students taking part in the project are working in groups in France and Greece, discussing, and analysing Safety Aspects of ICT tools, realising the dangers of the Internet and proposing ways of avoiding them. They exchange ideas, suggestions, opinions, plans, designs, and images.
Students in their countries surf on the www and look for material concerning Secure Navigation on the Internet. They make crossword puzzles, riddles and diagrams trying to explain terms such as privacy, cyber-bullying, netiquette, spy ware, spoofing, gambling, Trojan horse, phishing, spam, commercialism, key loggers, inappropriate, pirate or illegal software, dangerous sites, filter, firewall etc. and presenting their results. They study ways of avoiding the above problems.
They hold discussions about the Power of the Image on monitors and mobiles as well, and especially on the WWW.
Guidelines:
• Dangers on the Internet and how to avoid them
• Digital and traditional pictures. Can we believe what we see?
• Combination image and text. How powerful is a text or a sound when it is complemented by an image?
As an answer to the above themes
