Sexual division of labor: dividing labor according to sex.  
If there is a good number of people who are sexist it means that our culture is that way. If many think a way our culture is used to seeing females in certain roles and functions and males in other roles and cultures. Labor was divided according to sex. Being a women, would assign different roles.
Two different roles:
Expressive role: played by the females and includes child rearing and general caring activities.
Instrumental role: played by males and includes economic provision and the defense of society.

Before we used to expect different attitudes from males and females. Men are not allowed culturally to cry in public because otherwise they will be fooled about and show that they are not strong.   On the other hand women can cry. Men were not permitted culturally to take care of their children in public.   All mid wives are females. You can have a male mid wife.  
Culture is not changing with the same pace society is changing. Women are doing jobs that were traditionally done by men.   We think that there is a biological determination for the division of labor.   Women cannot be good child bearing because men are not biologically good as child bearing.   We used to think that it couldn’t be otherwise. Women are made for child bearing and rearing alone and therefore their place is at home.

Biological basis thesis: there is a difference between men and women in hormonal functioning. The male hormones are different than those of females and this has a psychological oblige effect providing behavioral differences.  
Reality is changes and hopefully with the reality our culture will change too.   There was a time that females weren’t allowed to wear pants but had to wear skirts.   Most of our behavior patterns related to our sex doesn’t have to do with anything biological but with society.
