If I were to ask you which TV program was ranked number 8 in the top 100 TV shows of all time, is watched by 13.4million viewers in 120 countries every week, the longest running American sitcom of all time and has had 420 episodes what would you say? Perhaps this will give you a clue… Yes you guessed it The Simpsons.

Matt Groening is the creator of The Simpsons, born in 1954 and also the creator of Futurama and many other comics. He started out by creating shorts called ‘bumpers’ which were aired on the Tracy Ullman Show. He then created the main five characters of the Simpsons family in just 5 minutes! The show soon became more popular and the series became a worldwide hit. The names of the characters came from the members of Matt’s family except Bart which is an anagram for Brat. There’s Homer, the couch potato who works at the power plant, Homers wife Marge, a typical mum and housewife. Cleans, cooks, etc. Then their three kids, Bart, the prankster of the family either watching the TV or annoying Lisa his sister who loves playing the saxophone when she isn’t protesting against a particular issue. Next there is Maggie the youngest of the family who communicates by sucking her dummy, and finally Santa’s Little Helper, the families dog picked up from the hound races and Snowball II their cat. Along with these characters there have been many guest appearances, in fact the show holds the Guinness World Record for ‘Most Celebrities Featured in an Animation series’. Amongst these celebrities there is Tony Blair, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ricky Gervais. The Simpsons has achieved worldwide fame and virtually every child in the world has heard of them. The Simpsons is full of jokes that can appeal to all ages, I think this is why it is such a successful brand. The Simpsons is shown in many different languages around the world. The Simpsons hit the big screen in The Simpsons Movie which was released on July 27th 2007 and was a great success, selling $526million...
