Athirapilly Panchayath earned its fame with its waterfalls and natural beauty, which are situated in the ranges on the southern western in the Thrissur district, Kerala state. The responsibility for the management and protection of the area lay with the range Vanam Samrakshana Samithi (VSS), anon Government organization in this area, which was formed in 2000.
