What followed the blasts, was a complete state of panic & chaos in the city
The telephone networks collapsed, almost paralysing the communication between panic-stricken victims and relatives, and their concerned well-wishers. However, the most powerful tool in modern Internet technology, social networking, came to the rescue.
Twitter, Facebook, Google and other similar networking sites have played a major role in helping the blast victims. For example, well-wishers posted messages that asked for blood donations from willing volunteers, and a large number of people responded to such calls. Other posts asked for help with food, accommodation and other facilities for the needy. emergency contact numbers - for hospitals and police stations available on this sites - were really very helpful . The city united on this medium to bail out their fellow citizens in need of help. I am trying to throw light on the subject“ DO SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES HELP in improving OUR LIVES”. But in today’s fast & hectic lifestyle where we hardly get any time to spend with our family , Do we really have the time & energy to socialize? Thus the emergence of popular SNS like LinkedIn, Facebook , Myspace , Twitter came almost as a boon to the society & have taken the world by a storm leading to nothing less than a revolution.
