Social Media Measurement Process
Describe the social media measurement process. The social media measurement process is made up of a couple main phases; Concept phase, Definition phase, Design phase, Deployment phase. Although it is somewhat inaccurate, and phrased in the article that of “immature” social media measurement is actually very simple once you account for the data that is actually relevant in social media success. The process begins in the Concept phase, which is the beginning stage. This phase focuses on defining what brands want to accomplish through relationships with their customers or prospects. So in other words it’s the first stages where you determine what are the goals and how to decide if the goals are being met or not. The next stage in the social media measurement process is the Definition phase, where you define what approaches are to be made to meet these goals. The strategy of accounting for all variables to determine the most effective ways to reach the audience that is targeted (the target audience). Once you can determine your target audience and how to reach them you clearly defined where you’re going, who you’re involving and how you’re planning on getting there. Next step in the social media measurement process is the Design phase, this stage lays out exactly the name you want to make for yourself. How you will be viewed by your audience is crucial, so the design stage is where you make sure you’re using the right approaches to improve your social media presence. Deployment is the fourth phase, the focus in deployment is on making sure that what is being seen and talked about on social networks or blogs is what you expected. In this stage you implement your plan and launch your program making sure your data and last phases all line up correctly. Everything leading up to Deployment must have been done perfectly for Deployment to run smoothly.

Interestingly enough, some are still completely unaware of this new form of communication that is linking the entire world into the same conversation. With over 11 million users worldwide, me included, Twitter is a rapidly growing micro blogging social network. In the time it takes to order a latte from Starbucks, followers (people who “friend” one or more twitter account) can get updated on what their brother ate had for breakfast that morning, John Mayer making a joke about how his laptop is so hot he could make a Panini in it, and the morning’s latest news from everyone’s favorite silver hared newscaster Anderson Cooper. This mix creates a brand new media experience unlike anything else, the intimate input of friends and family blended with a little celebrity obsession. “In short, [Time Magazine insists that] the…
