Before watching this video, I didn’t know what to expect because I had no idea what the video would be about. When I started to watch the video, Eric Thomas, started off by talking about making six-figures and how he was going to list three things that can be done in order for one to succeed in whatever aspect of life one is trying to succeed in. This really caught my attention and made me intrigued to know what he had to say. Furthermore, Eric tells a story of a man that went to a guru and the guru held his head underwater and the man kept trying to gasp for air. Then Eric states that the guru said, “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.” This is such an inspirational quote to me because I realize that I have not been trying as hard in school to succeed as much as I should be. That being said, he said that some of us want sleep more than success and this also applied to me. I have missed classes in the past due to wanting to sleep-in that extra one hour. I feel that maybe that is why I haven’t been as successful. I haven’t felt that I want to succeed as badly as wanting to breathe or that I really show my dedication to school by waking up earlier and grabbing golden opportunities that I am missing out on due to wanting to sleep-in. I feel those who wakeup early can never go wrong. You have plenty of more hours in the day where you can study, exercise, and even make money by holding a job when you do wake up early. I realize that I need to start waking up more early to tackle the opportunities that are there. Furthermore, Eric stated that many of us are too consumed by our favorite TV shows or cellphones, which results in time wasted or even high cell phone bills. This makes me really question what I am gaining besides wasting time on socialization when my schoolwork, the thing that will get me a degree, is neglected.
