Smokers have the right to smoke
At the NOVA Alexandria campus there has been a debate whether NOVA should ban smoking in all areas in campus. This debate is very critical because there are a lot of smokers in Alexandria campus. They may restrict smoking in certain areas but they can’t prevent students to smoke in the hall campus. If NOVA will ban smoking in all areas, that will create hate behavior between smokers and non-smoker students. Smokers argue that they have the right to use campus facilities equally as non-smokers. On the other hand, supporters for the ban in NOVA Alexandria campus said that smokers harm other students with smoking smell. They argue that there are a lot of reason to ban smoking related to health issue . In my opinion NOVA should not ban smoking in all areas in Alexandria campus. Nova could restrict smoking in some area but not all the campus. I think smokers have the right to smoke almost everywhere else than NOVA, and some time weather condition is not good to smoke out of campus in addition the ban will promote discrimination against smoker in many way. First reason note to have ban in Alexandria campus that smoker students , that smokers have the right to smoke in restricted areas almost everywhere. I don’t smoke however I do understand if someone needs to smoke that mean he needs to smoke. No matter where he is, that is what his or her body asks for. Therefore it doesn’t make sense for me to prevent smokers to smoke in the campus. That’s mean you need to stop smokers from smoke until they leave the campus .If that happened it’s mean that all smokers need to go outside the campus to smoke. Which mean they may miss part of their lectures. It’s a wasting of time for smokers to walk long distance to be out of campus to smoke. For example, if you have a lecture in Bisdorf building to walk out to parking lot and then get out of campus to smoke, that will take at least 10-15min.which...
