Decide if the concerns raised by the broadcasting of presence and location information in terms of security, people’s movements, tracking of employees, and other privacy issues are valid concerns and explain why or why not.
Consumer concerns over privacy run high for location sharing and even higher for sharing with business. Most people prefer not being watch, especially when it comes to employment. Knowing that your every movement is being tracked by your employer makes people apprehensive, which may cause them not to perform well. I have mixed feelings about tracking; I think tracking could help people lead safer lives. It can be used like a personal OnStar. If you have a problem, injury, safety or security issue, you can structure a service where you can get immediate help. But on the other hand, I still see where the privacy concern comes in, I would be concerned with whom and where this tracking information is going. It’s like there is no such thing as privacy anymore, apps like Geo-fencing gives marketers or the government the chance to track us every day. The technology can show what our interests are, where we go to church, who is our friends.” That is too intrusive. Traffic jams are sometimes caused by drivers looking for a parking space. This leads to noise and air pollution. One suggested method of easing this problem is the use of wireless sensor networks which can alert drivers when a parking space becomes available. The alerts are delivered to smartphones or street signs. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of using wireless sensor networks to alleviate the problem.
