Reflective Evaluation
The pursuit of higher education is a feat pursued by many for a multitude of different reasons; from financial prosperity & assurance to a feeling of personal gratification and self-assurance.
Substantial achievements in the bracket of higher education requires a number of skills, namely good analytical & problem solving skills, good inter-personal skills, good communications skills, planning and organizing skills and more importantly, good study and disciplinary skills. For instance; with analytical and problem solving skills, you will be able to critically look into a situation from a very systematic and logical perspective and then come up with an adept answer.
With good inter-personal skills, you would be able to efficiently interact and deal with others in a friendly, sensitve and empathetic manner.
Planning and organizing skills help in higher education by helping to institute an effective course of action and to manage time effectively allowing for the effective use of time and optimal performance when working within time constraints.
Study and disciplinary skills are probably the most important of the named skills.
Disciplinary skills help with your overall performance by allowing you to remain dedicated to the tasks set out before you and study skills allow for the abilities you need and the implemented strategic approaches to learning the materials set out before you.
The named skills above are absolutely necessary for the achievement of satisfactory results in higher education and can mean the difference between a mediocre performance and a superior outcome.
During this current semester of studying Skills for Academic Learning in Law module, I have learnt to properly hone and further develop these skills with the help a series of workshops and activities centred on developing my legal writing and research skills.
