Simple Strategy Type Games

Cam Nguyen, a student enrolled at Strayer University, stated she thought the simple strategy type games such as Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga’s simplistic concepts hides the complex measures it’s creator must have endured to design a game so simple, yet draws off the player’s primitive basic instinct of survival to offer rewards that are produced and administered by the player themselves. The player’s self reward for challenges the games have designed from the player’s own brain’s reflexive response to promote success. The match 3 or more style games have embraced psychology with the results of great success. The objective of these types of games is to accumulate as many groups of 3 or more in a 60 second time allotment or within x amount of moves. To make the groupings you can move 1 of the  items 1 space either up, down, left, or right. The more you can group together at one time the higher the points received along with a both bonus item that is stronger with the more in the group. The games are loved and popular due to the multi leveled structure each level can be accomplished within just a few minutes. With no long term time commitments and the availability of these games on computers, laptops, tablets, and phones, one can literally play anywhere. While waiting for an appointment, children’s bus, grocery line, even waiting for a light, although not recommended, these games are available no matter where one has to go. There is never a bad time to escape even if only for a few moments. The best Subfield in psychology to provide incite on this phenomenon is Cognitive Psychology. This area focuses on all aspects of memory, thinking, reasoning, decision making, etc which all are processes players will not only use but will improve on with these type games.
