Many people think that students have only a duty of studying in college. They strongly agaisnt that students do part time job. In my opinion, there are many advantages for students when having a part time job, so it’s a great idea for students to try it in their college years.

First of all, Part-time jobs help students contribute to their college expenses. It helps decrease the financial burden for students’ families. Students can have money to pay for their expenditure or satisfy their desire. Moreover, when they have to work to earn money for themselves, they know how difficult it is. Thus, they learn the value of money. By this way, they will know how to use money in a more intelligent way.

Second, when taking part-time jobs, students can acquire more experiences and gain their skills. if they can find a job that having factors relating to their study, they can apply what they learn in books to their tasks. Therefore, they will have more oppurtunities to get the good work in the future because many companies nowadays need employees who are experienced in their fields. Furthermore, students also learn communication skill and time management skill. They have to meet various kinds of people and respond to many kinds of circumstances. Part-time jobs occupy time in a day, so students should plan to fit everything in a schedule.

Some people argue that a part-time job may influence students' academic performance. The students may not have enough time left to do the assignments sometimes or feel tired to study. However, students can balance working with studying in order to not only earn money but also study well.

In short, having a part-time job can help students learn valuable lessons that can last them a lifetime.

Although having a part-time job may help a growing teen to be more independent, work ethic driven and more productive, it interferes with the school involvement of a teenager. Working long hours while attending school is just too much hard work for young adults to handle. Imagine getting home tired from a four-hour shift at work and still having homework to do after dinner and a shower. I’m sure some people can handle this for a week or so, but after that, they’ll get burnt out. Too much work leads to stress and eventually, working teen’s grades will drop. When their grades start dropping, they may cut back their course load and begin to avoid classes that require many hours of studying. In the article “Part-Time Work Ethic: Should Teens Go For It?,” Dennis McLennan cites evidence from a study of more than 500 working and non-working students at four Orange County (California) high schools, “part-time employment during the…

All of the positives about having a part-time job have one big caveat. Students cannot usually be employed more than 20 hours per week or their grades begin to suffer, they do less homework, and they are more likely to drop out (Gisler & Eberts, 2016). Your grades could suffer more if you were without a job than if you had a job during school. The busier you are, the more focused you become. Working really makes you more structured; you have a lot of things to do in a short amount of time, so it’s important to keep up with it all (Laskowski, 2009). So, if they get paid for grades and don’t get a job because you don’t have to, you won’t be structured as if you had a…

In addition, students may spend time gaining experience since they are still at school. The competition in the job market is getting fiercer and fiercer. If students have only academic knowledge got from classes, they will definitely fail in the race for well-paid employments. On the contrary, with practical experience collected from part-time jobs and other work, students could get the upper hand in seeking good jobs. I still remember a girl of my brother’s university class who attended classes regularly, reading all the textbooks carefully. After graduating, she barely managed to find a modest job. Conversely, my brother, with practical skills and experience from his part-time jobs, easily gained a good position in a bank. After all, spending time wisely working during their time at university can facilitate graduates at their beginning in the career.…

In general, those people who stand for the idea that students should not work part-time usually claim that students should save time for their lessons and exercises rather than work part-time. Furthermore, they need to maintain a good health for their study, and it may risk their life while working in an insecure environment. Though they make a point in their argument, it turns out to be more convincing that the benefits students get when doing part-time job outweigh the risks. First of all, it is commonly believed that students can get more practical experiences for their future business. In fact, formal training at colleges or universities only provides students with a basic background. In this case, it is no doubt that working part-time seems to be more helpful as it helps students learn more about responsibilities as well as real business challenges, which reinforces what they are learning in school. For instance, some studies show that undergraduates working part-time are more confident than the others when they start a job after graduation. In other words, the more experiences students gain during school time, the more benefits they will get in their future business.…

Third, once working part time, students will be more independent. Unlike those students who don’t work part-time, teenaged part-timers usually make determined effort to solve any problems by themselves. Take my roommate as an example; he used to be rather reluctant to carry out a heavy task by himself since he often felt uncertain whether he could manage his time or take responsibility for his decision. Nonetheless, he has turned out to be very confident and independent in his study as well as his work since he started a part-time job.…
