Should same-sex marriage be completely banned in Vietnam?
Human beings have gone through many fights against communities' backward prejudice in order to gain rights to pursue happiness,freedom and equality. Like fights against racial or religious discrimination , the fights for homosexual's right have occured all over the world. In Vietnam, whether or not same sex marriage should be banned is still a controversial issue. In my opinion, homosexual couples definitely have rights to get married for some following reasons.
Firstly, societies where same sex marriage is allowed are happy and equal societies. Every citizen in society obviously has equal rights, but in places where same sex marriage is prohibited, homosexual couples can not have right to inherit, adopt children or obtain social welfare like other couples. Besides, legalization of same sex marriage, which definitely does not infringe other people's rights, also shows the regard for the dignity and value of every citizen in society. Therefore, the recognition of same sex marriage is a way to bring equality and happiness to more people.
Secondly, it is unreasonable to ban same sex marriage, which does not go against traditional principles in Vietnam. In the past, it was unimaginable for men to be prohibited to marry many wives or women to go to school, work, have right to elect and be politicians. But nowadays, everything has been changed. In fact, there is no principle in Vietnam which disregard human's value or prohibits the right to love between honest people. Thus, homosexual, who are eager to live with their true nature and feelings, must be allowed to get married!
The opponents may claim that same sex marriage prevents the next generation maintanance. However, infertile or old couples, who can not maintain the next generation, are not prohitbited to get married. Therefore, it is unfair to ban same sex marriage.
In conclusion, same sex marriage should be legalised in Vietnam. People
