The devate over the legalization of cannabis sativa, more commonly known as marijuana, has been one of the most controversial issues ever to occur in the United States. Its use as a medicine has existed for thousands of years, and its documented as far back in 2700 BC in ancient Chinese writings.
Marijuana should be legalize for several reasons, first the government could earn money from taxes on its sale. Its value to the medical world outwweight its potential abuse, and because of its importance to the paper & clothing industries. Legalzation should be considered more here in Texas.
Government only has a right to limit those choises if the individual’s actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual who chooses to use marijuana does so according to his/her own will. The United States spends billions of dollars annualy on the war of drugs. It could save our government lots of money. In the USA, all levels of governments participate in the “war of drugs”. They spend billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who happen to like get high. These people housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up, its expensive.We could save billions of dollars as a state if we stop wasting money locking people up for having marijuana. In addition, if marijuana were legal, the government would would be able to collect heavy taxtation on it,because people are use to buying marijuana at high prices created by the risks of selling marijuana illegally. It could be sold at convenient stores, just like a pack of cigarrets, and could be a high profit because of easy growing requirements. An entire industry could be created out of hemp based products.
