Should children change their culture or keep their own

Should children change their culture or keep their own? Sometimes, most people are ashamed of their beliefs. I believe that when you share a different background or culture you must not forget about your culture but you can adapt to your new culture. First, individuals forget what they learned from their parents and family members. Second, individuals adapt to a new culture and forget about the one that they grew up with; they forget where they are coming from, what they are about and their background. I believe that when you share a different background or culture you must not forget about your culture but you can adapt to your new culture. In Fish Cheeks, Amy was ashamed of her Chinese traditions and customs. She was ashamed of her family’s behavior at the dinner table. She feels that her family does not have proper American manners. Also, she feels disappointed because they were having Chinese food for Christmas Eve dinner instead of a roasted turkey and sweet potatoes. Amy states that, “My father leaned back and belched loudly, thanking my mother for her cooking”. Her father then explained to the minister’s family that, “it is a polite Chinese custom to show you are satisfied” of the meal. She feels even more ashamed and did not like the way her father plucked out the soft meat behind the fish eye. Then he said to her, “Amy your favorite”. She felt embarrassed and wanted to disappear from the table. I believe that when you share a different background or culture you must not forget about your culture but you can adapt to your new culture.
