Essay 1: Describe your motivation for pursuing a master’s degree. How does it fit with your long and short-term goals? How have your academic, career or life experiences prepared you for this program? My undergraduate education and internship experiences give me a good introduction to the finance industry. But if I want to make bigger accomplishments in my career, I need to be equipped with advanced knowledge and skills. MS program gives me a chance to further study and increase my expertise in finance.
My post-graduate short-term goal is to find a job in one of the top securities brokerage firms in China. In recent years, Chinese government has been encouraging a financial reform, which would have huge impacts on the future of finance industry. The reform provides opportunities to many companies including securities companies. It makes securities companies in China a good platform for me to start my career. A master’s degree can increase my value in job market. It helps me to prove that my ability is qualified for the job. This is one of the main reasons that I deicide to pursue a master’s degree. MSM Finance program in Case Western Reserve University does not only focus on quantitative skills but also teach students how to apply theories to reality. The knowledge I learn from the courses of the program will be very helpful when I start my career.
My long-term goal is to achieve a senior managerial position in a top securities brokerage firm. But since the economic environment in China is very unpredictable, it is possible that my career path is different from my expectation.
However, no matter which direction my career is going, I need good education to assure I have sufficient knowledge and understanding to achieve success. MSM
