Introduction : Beginnings of internet
The era of internet began between the 1960s and the 1970s. At this period, the virus, which is a program that causes an unexpected event on your computer, weren't very important..
It´s only after 1970 that the real virus appeared like for instance trojan horses which are programs that the user open and which take the control of a part of your computer to do something as supprissed your documents, stop your computer or send message without your authorization.
So in the goal to stop the development of this kind of virus, some companies created antivirus softwares during the 1980s to protect the users from theses problems.

I – The society McAfee
A - The founder
John McAfee (born on September 1945) is one of the main creators of antivirus software developer and the founder of McAfee.
In an American magazine, he says that being the developer of the first commercial antivirus, it became "the most popular target for hackers."
B- History of the company
John McAfee created "McAfee associates" in 1989 in Santa Clara, in California. At this moment, his antivirus software was just addressed to the home users and he proposed that they can pay for it only if they find this software useful. However, many customers were satisfied and advised this software at their company.
Three years after its beginnings, McAfee Associates was so successful that the company decided to go public.
Then, McAfee associates merged with Network general corporation to form Network associates. And after, the group continued to acquire other companies (like for instance Trusted Information Systems, Secure Networks and Cyber Media) to develop herself.
Around 1998, with reference to these acquisitions, Network General was in a bad financial situation. So she decided to sell some companies and to focus her activity exclusively on security instead of diversifying.
Later, the company was get back by George samenuk in 2001.
