Americans are strong, independent leaders that know right from wrong, but Americans can, sometimes, act like sheep. A sheep is a lazy blind follower that will follow the loudest voice and is anything but intelligent. Are Ameicans like sheep or are strong leaders? Americans act like sheep because of Celebrities, Social Media and fashion. the first reason why Americans are sheep is the fact that Americans will follow any celebrity just because that person is famous. A lot of kids and teenagers follow and idolize celebrities and would follow them blindly because their friends and other people follow them. An example of kids idolizing celebrities is the way people riot and fight over Justin Beiber. They will fight and stand up for someone that they know nothing about just because there friends do it. This means that Americans are now starting to follow and obey people they know nothing about.
The second reason why Americans are sheep is the fact that Americans rely the on social media. Social media plays a big part in the way people think and follow people. The Social media today has evolved and it is easier to get false information and follow the wrong thing. An example of the social media affecting the way people think is Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. By using Facebook, Americans can get a lot of false information by people that post and upload false things. This means that it is easier than ever for an American to follow and support the wrong thing.
The Final reason Americans are sheep is the way we follow fashion. Americans follow fashion more than anything. Trends of clothes and style are followed off and on. Something that was cool today can be old tomorrow. An example of people following fashion would be the way people follow sagging pants or wearing v necks. This shows the way Americans moves in Packs like sheep, following the next trend one after another. This means Americans have no sense of independence and just follow trends.

Americans today have their negative and positive sides to them. For example, many Americans, like my father, focus on the any positives of the people. He sees the good in everyone, and he is always providing sweet southern hospitality to his neighbors and community members. Another positive of Americans is the passion that every soul carries with them; Americans strong belief in freedom and justice always brings the great nation together, this love is so great that often times this patriotism for our nation is seen as too much by other countries. Although this patriotism is great for the American people, it often comes across in a negative way to other nations. The greatest negative is that Americans are boastful in all they do and make the…

Anti-Americanism is a feeling of hatred toward America, its culture and its people. It is caused by several things. However, contrary to popular belief, Anti-Americanism has nothing to do with America’s foreign relations. It is, however, caused by resentment against America. People from outside countries start to think and believe that Americans are not professionals. They also begin to believe that Americans are too materialistic and spiritual. They think this only because we are different from them. This is why they resent us; they are not envious of us. Also, the main purpose of language is not to convey thoughts, but to conceal them. Anti-Americanism causes us to be called “Great Satan”, primarily because we are tempting. We are also considered…

Americans have enormous national pride, which often leads them to become unwilling and unable to look inward. Americans see themselves and their ideals as universal truths, such as freedom, while it appears to other countries to be nationalism. For those Americans who don’t question information and don’t think beyond their own existence, it makes sense to say that they are naive to our nationalism and the nationalism of other countries.…

David Icke, an author, conspiracy theorist, and former football player and sportscaster once said “The human race is a herd. Here we are, unique, eternal aspects of consciousness with an infinity of potential, and we have allowed ourselves to become an unthinking, unquestioning blob of conformity and uniformity. A herd. Once we concede to the herd mentality, we can be controlled and directed by a tiny few. And we are.” Here, Icke is saying that humans often become attached to groups. They do not tend to question what is going on, as long as they feel safe and secure with any group. Humans thrive on the feeling of being included, so much so that they lose themselves and start to become one with their group. They become numb to new ideas different…

    Lamb to the Slaughter

In the short story, Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl uses the literary devices of dramatic irony, foreshadowing, and imagery to depict a dark comedy by grasping the idea of a tragedy becoming humorous. There are multiple uses and examples of irony throughout this short story that relate to the idea of a dark comedy. One key quote of dramatic irony comes from the end of the book stating, Personally, I think its right here on the premises.´ Probably right under our very noses. What do you think, Jack?´ This quote here shows us as that the detectives have no idea that they are actually eating the evidence of the murder right then and there. We, as the audience, obviously know what is going on and by Mary Maloney chuckling at that statement shows us that Dahl turned something as horrible as murder into something that she laughs at in the end referring to the idea of dark comedy. Verbal irony is also represented in this piece of literature. When she goes to the market, she talks to the grocer and states, ³No, Ive got meat, thanks. I got a nice leg of lam, from the freezer.´ (pg. 320) This is verbal irony because it shows that what she is saying is basically telling the grocer what she used for the murder of her husband. The irony here is amusing, knowing the fact that killed the supposed love of her life and can so easily lie about it. So again, the verbal irony really catches the tone of the dark comedy that Dahl is trying to capture here. Both dramatic and verbal irony relate to each other in the sense that the audience feels the ideas of a tragedy as something funny therefore, relating back to the overall picture of the piece of literate as a dark comedy in the short…

I feel Americans are self centered because it is seen as more successful to be rich and famous than to contribute to society as a whole. Many people are more interested in personal gain than helping others. Also, with the increase in technology in social media, people spend more time alone behind a screen than actually interacting with people. This deprives people of experience in developing social skills like compassion for others, consideration, empathy, etc. This causes people to be more self centered rather than oriented towards others. The increase in obsession with perfection and looks causes people to focus more on themselves and perfecting themselves. People will wear makeup, get plastic surgery, use diet pills, etc to attain their idea of perfection. This will cause them to become obsessed with the idea of themselves and their…

A monkey is a primate of the Haplorrhini suborder and simian infraorder, either an Old World monkey or a New World monkey, but excluding apes and humans. There are about 260 known living species of monkey. Many are arboreal, although there are species that live primarily on the ground, such as baboons. Monkeys are generally considered to be intelligent. Unlike apes, monkeys usually have tails. Tailless monkeys may be called "apes", incorrectly according to modern usage; thus the tailless Barbary macaque is called the "Barbary ape".…

America has a history of only over two hundred years since the day it was established, but even within such a short period of time, America still has managed to cultivate and nurture its very own, distinct cultures and values that support it to climb up to the top of the world.
