A topic often brought up in class discussion throughout the semester was sexuality and the many aspects involved; changing my personal perception of sexuality. In September I believed sexuality was just the act of sex and or being promiscuous, but it’s a much broader subject. The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter is a re-mastered version of the fairy tale Blue Beard with a sexual spin. It perfectly depicts the ideal image of sexuality to one who is more innocent than someone more experienced then alters it and shows us its variations after they’ve gained experience. This essay will explore the deception, dominance and violence surrounding the sexual relationship between the heroine and Marquis. Angela explores the aspect…

Sexual assault continues to be a problem in the United States, with the rates of sexual assault being higher in college women than any other category. In Jozwoski’s and Peterson’s report “College Students and Sexual Consent: Unique Insights” they analyze the way college students perceive and respond to sexual advances. They conducted this study by taking 185 college students and asking them a number of open ended questions that provided insight to how they responded to sexual advances, how they let their partner know that they are willing to have sex, and what ‘sexual consent’ means to them. When examining the answers, four themes emerged (Joswoski & Peterson, 2012): (a) endorsement of the traditional sexual script; (b) women are responsible for performing oral sex; (c) men’s consent to sex can be aggressive; and (d) men utilize deception to obtain consent to sex.…

According to my research it states that throughout the history women have been treated as second- class citizens. Women have had fewer rights and job opportunity. The status for women in the history has been for them to be house wives and take care of the children, while the men worked doing hard labor. Women had little opportunity to get an education. Women in the workforce in the 1850’s jobs includes domestic services, clothing textiles, teaching, making shoes, wools, and hat making. The women were making as little as $2.00 per week and the more job opportunities, and an education.…

In America, beauty is associated with being young and having flawless skin and no wrinkles. A woman in late adulthood could look in the mirror and sees wrinkles, age spots, bags under her eyes, and sagging breasts; she might think she is not beautiful. What are older women supposed to do? Should they deny their sexuality because American society reveres youth? The youth obsessed American culture creates a stigma against the older adult, especially females since men are perceived as sexier with age. Once a woman can no longer bear children or loses her mate, people might think she becomes asexual. The truth is sexuality continues throughout the life span, but many women accept…

This journal article was about the four main differences among men and women. The differences that were examined were, “pervasive, affecting thoughts and feelings as well as behavior, and they characterize not only heterosexuals but lesbians and gay men as well” (Peplau, 2005, pg. 93). The four differences had to do with men’s desire for sexual activity versus women, the importance of a relationship amongst men and women, the link between aggression and sexuality, and how women’s sexuality can change. These four differences build the foundation for the rest of the journal article.…

Sex is very common amongst my generation. It’s like the normal thing to do for teenagers. The only thing that surprises us is the same sex experimentation that has began to rise. When I say this I know that most people probably are only thinking women but, in recent studies done by psychologists they have found that more men have been engaging in sexual behavior with another man. This interests me because it makes me wonder about how people think about sex in general. If you classify yourself as straight then what makes you want to try having sex with men or women of the same sex?…
