Focusing on the small problems in life causes more issues than anything else, and can block out the bigger problems that need to be addressed. The opioids were the big problems in the skit, and even though the parents found their child with a big problems, they turned back to focusing on the small issues, and the larger problem of opioids continued to build up.…

A problem that persists through every part of the world is a lack of compassion for the homeless. No matter how many charities are available for people to donate to, they are often careless and forgetful. This problem stems from laziness and a lack of motivation to be involved. This carelessness can account for the lack of resources or the lack of knowledge about resources for the homeless.…

We as humans don’t think of it immediately as it happens in front of our eyes but it’s still a thought that deeply lingers within our unconscious brain as we see that one dollar that we worked so hard for escape the tight grasp of our hands and end up being crammed into another dusty cash register. Now a days it seems as if our cringe and shiver with fear every time we walk into a store and then it practically seems to be sobbing for mercy when we get into the dreadful long and boring checkout lanes. As if to add more insult to injury we wallets than begin to hear the cheerful voice of the evil cashier who’s bagging our items ask “hello sir/mam, would you like to donate a dollar to...” it’s at that given moment where most of us begin to doubt and wonder if that one dollar which we worked so hard for really will make a difference in someone’s life.…

I have had a very tough, not easy, no help life, and yet I’ am always the first one to lend a helping hand to someone else. I volunteer at my local church to clean up local areas, I volunteer at the nursing home entertaining and accompanying the elderly, I also do some volunteer work at a local animal shelter. When you come from a place where no one has really ever helped you achieve or even move forward you become one of two people. The person who is bitter and will never lend a helping hand, or the person who never wants someone to go through what they have been through in life. I’ am person number two. I have experienced a lot of tragedy, disappointment, and rough times in my life. For being so young it is difficult to take it all in, yet I still know how to help when help is needed. If only there was someone to have the same mentality as me, and help when I needed it. There should be more people out there willing to lend a…

We live in a world of opportunity. Everyone deserves an opportunity, but, unfortunately, not everybody gets one. For those who are less fortunate, receiving donations may be the only way they get by in life. There are many high schools, clubs and organizations that sponsor charity drives in exchange for incentives. The fact that such events are helping those who are in need makes it clear that people can be good, but that sometimes they just need to be persuaded a little.…

Dale Partridge once said, 'You were born with the ability to change someone's life, don't waste it." Throughout our lives, most people choose to ignore helping those in need. Many of those people, did not choose to be in a situation where they have to ask for help. At one point, homeless people had dreams of becoming someone important in life. Despite the situations these people have gone through , helping the homeless can change our community by lowering crime rates, and having hard workers.…

    Philosophy of Charity

    • 989 Words
    • 4 Pages

When it comes to charity, morality, and concern for one another, humans tend to vary drastically on how we feel and act depending on the circumstance and the individual. What makes this issue so complex is the fact that we are naturally set to want to help one another and be kind (in most cases) while at the same time being naturally focused on the survival and wellbeing of ourselves and loved ones over most other things. These natural settings, of course, are all influenced by the individual’s life situation. For example, a person with no family may be more willing, if willing at all, than a person with three kids to run into a burning building to save a random stranger from apparent death. What keeps us from helping others and what makes us help others is different for every individual. Although these differences may vary incredibly, there tends to be a shared feeling of the “greater good” that most experience.…

Performing the act of kindness of providing money for food to someone in need helped to build moral character for both parties involved. The person in need, perhaps has gained knowledge he or she is not alone and others do care about what happens to him or her. The person receiving the gift may reciprocate the act by searching for jobs or applying for social support. The person giving the gift has become responsible to help others; this act can lead to bigger acts in the community of aid to others. Many people in the community practicing altruism can be beneficial in teaching social responsibility to others. In such efforts to promote altruism limits exist in persuading others to become responsible in the plight.…

    People Helping People

My interpretation of “people helping people” is “people helping people” can be looked at as a selfless act of encouragement to one individual or a whole community. By helping those with a certain need to only get the profit of satisfaction is a fundamental philosophy to keep our society well-endowed and strong as a community. I have personally demonstrated this in my community by participating in my school’s Operation Christmas Child to help children across the world see what a better life is and to help them reach it on earth, and with God. I also volunteered for four summers at our City’s Park’s Program as a junior counselor, watching children and giving them a place to enjoy their summer outside and also educate them as we took field trips to the Corning Museum of Glass. I personally have lived by my own interpretation of the selfless philosophy of “people helping people”…

Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Life’s most urgent question is: What are we doing for others?” So I ask you now, what are you doing for others? Well, here is one way you can help others while even helping yourself. Volunteering fulfills a need for someone while improving your mental state, self-esteem, and it makes others want to volunteer as well. In order to make the world a better place, people should volunteer to help others. Volunteering fulfills a need for anyone in need of service or care. When you volunteer at a soup kitchen, it fulfills a need for someone who is hungry. While fulfilling a need, you will feel yourself to be happier. Volunteering improves ones mental state and self-esteem. Research shows that 96% of volunteers say…

    Homelessness and Print Ad

When you take a look at the print ad, you have to think a picture is worth a thousand words and what does this mean. The print ad states the following: "When you give to the United Way, you 're helping homeless people overcome the obstacles in their lives by providing things like shelter, hot meals, and training programs. With United Way funded agencies helping so many in our community, make a difference is easier than you think." The statement you have just read is posted on the print ad and it is trying to promote awareness about homelessness. The print ad does a great job of showing emotion. In the picture on the print ad, you can see a person’s hand is trying to shield a homeless man from lying on the street in the rain. This picture explains a story that helping hands can be used to help shelter people around us in need. If we join hand in hand that we can make a difference in a homeless person’s life.…
