2.1.1 Organization introduction
The association for industrial relations with the community is the educational branch of the Manufacturers Association of Israel. In 1992 the latter association has formed the ‘Think Industry’ programme, which objectives are to practice in cultivate thinking, generalized sight, develop team work and life qualifications, creativity and initiative to further conceptualize the relationship between industry and community.
The program operates with the help of professional centers, which help it execute its projects.
These ‘Industrial Knowledge’ centers combine computer simulations, videos about science, technology, marketing and publicity to students from primary to secondary schools. They also offer a wide range of activities, workshops and experience eventful days that take place in their centres and in the schools.
Up to last year 4 centres have operated in Israel. Due to the fact that the centres were costing more than their productivity and benefits 3 of them were shut down and now only the main one (in Tel-Aviv) is operational.
The association is currently operating with 40 instructors, which travel to all school in the country and also teach in the main centre.
2.1.2 Organizational problem
In 1995 the yearly topic of the educational system was ‘Industry and Production’, which helped in the acceptance of the relationship between community and industry. In that year the activity of the association increased tremendously and up to 1999 it had a steady rate of growth. This constant growth aligned with the associations' goal, which was for demand to exceed supply.
Ever since the year 2000 there has been a tendency of decrease in the number of clients. From the schools perspective, this is due to the reducing and cutting in the education budget. With a limited budged, schools will try to cut every expense that seems unnecessary. Some find the... [continues]
