In order for seniors to be eligible to leave campus during their lunch period, they must maintain a grade point average of at least 90%. Once they have met this academic eligibility they cannot have any disciplinary infractions resulting in a detention or suspension. If seniors have met all of those requirements they will receive a pass allowing them to leave campus to get lunch elsewhere. Seniors will have to sign out at the attendance office and sign back in when they get back. To have this in the second semesters those seniors will have to fill out and complete the form and repeat the process again.
Another privilege I am proposing is a senior study hall. If there are any seniors that have an open period in their schedule they will be able to choose to take that study hall in place of that free period to work on College applications, scholarships and/or college essays. They must be a senior in good standing and must be requesting 5 academic classes at either an honors or AP level. The school is challenging students to take a more rigorous schedule to get ready for college and so this opportunity will give students an opportunity to get help from students, teachers and meet with their counselor and/or the college or career counselor and seek out scholarships. Not only will the seniors in the study hall work on college essays and applications but they can also use this time to work on homework. Students with a full load schedule would see this as an opportunity to seek out their teachers and peers and get help on problems on the homework.
Along with the class of 2014, there are other classes that are filled with good standing individuals and deserve more senior privileges from the administration when they become seniors. I am sure that students will appreciate these two more senior privileges I have proposed when they are seniors. I have proposed those ideas and if you as in the administration would like to discuss it I would be willing to discuss them with you.
