1. Introduction to Self-managed learning

Self managed learning is about individuals using their skills to create methods to manage their own learning, about people who come up with their own strategy in learning, taking responsibility of what they learn, how they learn, when they learn, where they learn and why they learn. It helps individuals to set goals and manage their time, develops motivation, avoids stress, it is about decision making, planning and scheduling. As people are different also their level of learning new things can differ as well, people learn things differently, some learn from others, some from their own experience, but it's necessary to have in mind that people can't be forced to learn what they don't want to, every person learn at their own pace.

2. Purpose of the assignment

To enhance the advantages and disadvantages of self-managed learning and how it can be useful in professional and personal life.

3. Approaches to self-managed learning

There are many ways of learning something new in your personal and your professional life. Some of those approaches could be set by the individual himself or by the organisation he is working for, such as:

• Participating on seminars and conferences, where people can learn about news things through other experiences and achievments;

• Taking online courses on the internet, such as lanaguage courses; Reading newspapers, magazine, watching television, they are all means of learning something in direct or indirect way, most of the time you absorb information without any extra effort;

• Social network, such as Facebook, Twitter, where people are always sharing information about things they learn or achieved on their own life and how to do the same on your own life;

• Not wait to be told what to do, being self motivated will allow you to manage your time, acquire new skills, and transfer your knowledge to others;

• Introducing KPI's and having appraisals with the staff to measure their improvment;

• Encouraging employees to share their knowledge with co-workers; Creating opportunities at the work environment for learning, for example having an intranet where employees could learn more about the company and their goals, creating a place and time at work where employees could read about the business and do online courses to improve their perfomance;

• Having a culture in the organization that encourage self-managed learning, allowing staff to colaborate, suggesting ideas and ways to improve the work environment;

• Organizing your time, controlling and evaluating your progress, setting goasl and taking responsibilitie for your own learning methods and achievments; Managing the process from which you take raw information and transform into learned information;

Along with all the approaches mentioned above, let's highlight here other ways of self-manage your learning, although they can be quite similar there are a few important differences in the type of learner indivuals can...
