High internals do not rely on the opinions of others. They are better able to resist coercion and are more achievement-orientated. High internal locus of control has been linked to leadership and individuals with high internal locus of control are more likely to become entrepreneurs. Anderson and Schneier found that group members possessing an internal locus of control were more likely to emerge as leaders in their groups. This may be because individuals who take responsibility for their own actions feel that they can cause changes in their environment, including the behaviour of those around them.…

The level to which a leader wishes or needs to maintain control may well influence a leader’s style. A leader may prefer to micromanage as it suits their style however, if that style does not suit the situation, it may negatively impact the team and their motivation. However, it may be that the situation requires the leader to maintain a high level of control, for example in a crisis situation where the stakes are high and decisions need to be made rapidly. In general, collective and more collaborative decision making takes longer than autocratic decision making.…

An internal locus of control is closely related to self-confidence. An internal leader is one who is powerful due to the fact they can internalize a situation, rather than externalize because they will take responsibility for the task at hand.…
Over the past 3 months, my writing has improved dramatically. After writing countless essays and journals along with other assignments, I can say that my writing has almost become twice as good since high school. For this I am grateful. The writing skills that I have learned will be very useful in life beyond college. I have learned that writing is an art form; And similar to pieces of art, writing improves over time and it an always be improved. Among the many aspects of writing that I have improved upon, the most important things include: How to develop an introduction paragraph, teacher feedback, and developing transitions from one topic to another.…
When thinking of leadership styles one thing to consider is what defines a good leader. Hood (2010) suggests that an effective leader influences and encourages others to achieve goal setting and goal attainment. A good leader recognizes that there is always something new to learn. Effective leaders set direction, build commitment and confront challenges through clear communication and soliciting staff feedback. Authoritarian leaders remain in control, they are task oriented, and are effective in crisis conditions. An authoritarian leader makes decisions and addresses all problems single-handedly. This…

Self-concept emerges as a child develops an increasingly rich concept of him or herself, separating the notion of "I" from other people and objects. In addition to he concept of "I" a child develops a separate notion of "Me" which has certain defining features and qualities. William James defined "Me" as one that is observed and perceived. "It is the Me that one sees when attention is focused on the self, the Me as an object, represented in self-concepts, in how we see ourselves."…

These have been included to help you get started on this second part.…
There are several factors that will influence the choice of leadership styles and behaviours in workplace situations, some of the factors may develop naturally through ones personality and others are the product of the leaders environment. One factor is the leaders own personality as their leadership style becomes an extension of who they are. For example; leaders with dominating personalities are more likely to dominate their team rather than be part of said team. The level of control a leader wishes to maintain over their team also influences their leadership style, as some may delegate work to others, but others feel the need to be involved in every aspect of day to day work therefore increasing their workload and often not utilizing their team to the best of its ability. Another factor which can influence leadership style is the organizational structure and operating methods, as they may dictate the leadership style that the managers must adopt as their own. A leaders experience also affects their choice of leadership style because managers without a lot of experience may feel the need to lead ‘by the book’ as it where rather than use their own style for fear of making mistakes. Other factors that will affect choice of leadership styles or behaviours in workplace situations are new teams entering the workplace as this changes the dynamics of the already established teams,…
This situation has the potential to be awkward, but it is certainly salvageable. I think that mentioning Toya’s high level of responsibility and her ability to be a “self-starter” was a very good opening to this conversation about her first few weeks on the job. Making an interrogative statement about, “how Toya could improve her work” was a bit of a mistake in my opinion. It put Toya, who is already a bit insecure, on the defensive. Of course, Toya could have answer the question with something like, I would welcome any suggestion on my improving my work, but most people are not quite that confident, especially during their their first week of employment when they might be in a probationary period and have a reasonable fear of losing her job.…
