1.0 Introduction

A lot of research has been done on self-esteem, especially in the psychology area. Psychologists suggest that almost every aspect of our lives - from personal happiness, success, achievement, to relationships with others - revolves around one main characteristic, and that is, our self-esteem. They argue that in the deepest part of ourselves we all carry an image, and this image - whether it actually corresponds to reality, or not - guides us through our daily activities affecting in a significant way all of our choices. So practically our self-concept affects every single thing about each of us, and therefore, all our achievements can be traced back to the beliefs and the value we place on ourselves, in other words, to how we see ourselves.

There have been many studies done on self-esteem in correlation with many variables. Research done on self-esteem on education level has shown that those with a higher level of self-esteem tend to do better in school and this way they receive more education.
