Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is built just as any other airport, with impossibly large open spaces, equally large glass windows, and clear signs pointing to every facility. After various trips and destinations, travelers begin to think of airports as synonymous. American airports are both non-places and a very specific type of place designed to produce specific types of thoughts, feelings, possessions and behaviors. In a sense a culture of travel is evident of what people have, think, and do. Travelers have a shared set of expectations in mind when it comes to transporting via airplane. Amongst the list are that time is of the essence, security is a given, and comfort is a necessity. An airport and all it provides is the most taken for granted item a traveler has. There are certain circumstances that must be present to suffice these set expectations travelers possess, such as quick check-in service, presence of security guards, and informational signs. Travelers do not seem to pay attention to the services and control airports provide unless something goes wrong. While watching a woman run inside the airport half dragging her young daughter, some of these expectations became blatant. The woman knew where to find the check in desk, because of the clear signs and announcements made periodically by the airport in order to minimize delays. She also had the required paperwork ready, and not only did the employees of the flight companies work efficiently to check her in but they did so in a kind manner. Ultimately airports have a culture and social patterns of their own that travelers openly accept and comply with.   It is apparent now that the Seattle-Tacoma international airport is structured to provide the best security and comfort for their travelers all in accordance to their on-the-go lifestyle while maintaining control
