Hospitals often elicit surprising emotions from incoming patients; feelings of dread, mortality, and a loss of control. These emotions come contrary to the goal of a hospital: to heal, to help, and to provide a general sense of positivity. Of course the former emotions are valid, but they are seemingly over-dramatic with the goal of a hospital kept in mind. The author of this account carefully crafts his writing using diction, strong details, and a specific tone, to paint his hospital visit in a negative light, and to remind us all of why hospital visits are so terrifying.…

Perfection. It's more than just a universal truth. We believe in it. We crave it. We strive for it. It’s safe to say we basically breathe for it. But tell me, what is perfection? Each and every individual asked that question would have a greatly altered definition of their perception of perfection, ranging from personal appearance to success. It is a mere fact that depending on who you are, where you grew up, and what you're capable of, you are presented with different expectations on how you should live your life. You will always be expected to be the very best; to be perfect. It is quite understandable, even from an average person’s perspective, that along with being a well-known individual, certain expectations from the general public exist.…

Emergency room nurses firstly ask the patient what their chief complaint is upon arrival. The chief complaint labels the patient, and gives them a triage level based on the amount of resources needed to intervene. The chief complaint (or illness) is the nurse’s focus of his/her practice. The nurse also takes into consideration the need to educate the patient and his or her own readiness to learn. All of these factors help reach the goal of making the patient “feel” better and regain health. Below is a model of how nurses in the emergency room revolve directly around the patient.…

The great Yogi Berra once said, “If the world was perfect, it wouldn’t be.” A perfect world won’t be perfect without some key objects or qualities. To live in a perfect world, you would need to give up your choices. In my opinion, giving up your choices to live in a perfect world will not be worth it at the end. If we lost our choices, we would lose the vision of seeing color, allowing your parents to choose your name, and knowing your true birthdate.…

The machines were beeping and there were pools of blood beside the woman. She was laying in the middle of the floor but nothing could be done. The victim was on the television. The incident wasn’t real, but the experience was undeniable. Medical dramas have become so realistic, that we often blur the line between what is real and what is fictional. On television, hospitals experience abundant traumas, rarely experience death, and doctors are glorified as heroes, whereas in reality it is not as dramatic.…

I believe that everybody is born with a purpose, whether it be good or bad. According to the Indian mythology one has to do what they do and shouldn’t care about the result whether it be good or bad because that’s what they were suppose to do; that’s their destination. A lot of us waste a lot of our time in looking for what we are good at or what we want to do in life. Even though we tend to target our goals in life from before, some succeed while others fail; one shouldn’t waste time in looking for what they want to do in life because their destiny will eventually find them. I realized this a few days back when I watched a movie called “Ashoka The Great” which had mass killing and atrocity in it. I was disturbed but I didn’t really care about it, however, while I was asleep I had depressing dreams and disturbing thoughts. Thus, I woke up all wet with sweat. I asked myself “ What does life mean to me?”, and I kept thinking. I realized that the life I was living before had no aim and meant nothing. However, after a long thoughtful night I realized that to me life meant to live and let others live, care for people who care for me and strive to learn till the end.…
