Biology 155 - Grading Criteria for Draft Structure of Human Groups Materials and Methods Section (10 pt. Total)

1. Provides a general description of the design of the experiment including that:

a. pairs of students made observations about the size and composition of human groups found gathered at tables at CSLA (If acceptable 1/2 pt.)

b. records were made of the sizes of groups and the numbers of males and females in the groups. The sample sizes, both total numbers of groups and numbers of males and females, will be required in the final version of the paper, but will be omitted in the draft. (If acceptable 1 pt.)

c. records were made of the number of empty tables (If acceptable 1 pt.)

d. groups with more than 3 males or 3 females were excluded from the study (If acceptable 1 pt.)

e. data were recorded whether or not group members were actually interacting at the time of observation (If acceptable 1 pt.)

f. tables that were pushed together were counted as two or more separate tables (If acceptable 1 pt.)

g. data were collected in the Student Union, inside at Café LA and on the second and third floors and outside on both the east and west sides of the building, and the Library, on floor 2 and Levels A and B (If acceptable 1 pt.)

h. data were collected during the second or third week of the quarter, Monday through Friday between noon and 5 PM (If acceptable 1/2 pt.)

2. A description of the data analysis will be required in the final paper, but will be omitted in the draft.
