My group consists of Shaif, Royden, Brenda and myself. Throughout the whole egg-drop project, we did not have much trouble cooperating with each other. At first, we were a little awkward with each other as usually we do not communicate in class but soon the members and I opened up and started discussing and giving ideas and suggestions as to what contraption we were going to make. Although everyone had ideas which were different from each other, we managed to settle on one idea without much conflict. Also, my group members did not complain when we had to give up some of our recess time to carry out experiments for the project so I think that overall, my group did pretty well in working with each other.
When my group carried out the experiment on the day, we suceeded and proved our hypothesis correct. i think that one of the reasons that our group suceeded was that we work well together. But based on scientific principles, I think that as compared to other groups which also used a parachute in the project, the surface area of our parachute of our parachute was the largest. Also, instead of normal plastic bags used by other groups (FairPrice, BreadTalk, Giant etc.), we used trashbags as the material trashbags are made of a thinner material and do not weigh as much as compared to a normal plastic bag. Another reason that I think our group suceeded in our experiment is that unlike other groups, we cut the trash bag into a large piece of plastic before attatching the strings to each corner. While, other groups did not cut the plastic bags into a piece of plastic but instead, used the plastic bag in the form it is originally.

There was conflict when group members did not show up at group members ans we felt that not everybody was contributing to their best abilities. One group member did not even bother to have a text book and I as a leader made sure she got a copy of the case. It was in the group’s best interest that she be given a copy. Then we met for the first time not everybody had read the case and it was apparent and frustrating. Then we were rushed for time and we met the professor and only two out of five could meet the professor. Then we cracked the case and not all members were present at every meeting. It was hard to work as a team. Then I decided to host two meetings at home and the last one brought us closer together since we shared some snacks and personal…

When our group was randomly assigned, by chance, three of our members were already working closely together on an intense project in another class. Luckily, they had already had positive relationships and myself and the other new member fit right in. The result was a significant kick-start, and we were able to maintain the momentum through to completion. Overall our experience working together as group was a positive one, with great group dynamics, and we were happy to be able to work together again.…

I need to encourage more positive interactions between students during instruction to promote learning and collaboration. I was hesitant at times to allow students to work in groups because I didn’t know their developmental level or how certain students worked with each other. I’m also not sure how to manage the classroom while students are working in groups. Observing other teachers and talking to them about having students collaborate together successfully would support this growth.…

We also communicated with each other when we had questions. I decided to take on the role of putting our final presentation together. We agreed that the group members would have their parts of the presentation to me by Saturday the 19th so that I could have time to put it all together and work on the general format to make sure it looked cohesive. I thought it was important that everyone have time to see what will be submitted before so that if anyone was unhappy we can make changes. I think we functioned well as a team during this assignment. We tried to keep communicating with each other when we had questions or were unsure about any aspect of the project. We had noticed that we had not heard from Annette for a few days about the project so we made sure to reach out to her again to make sure she was still ok with everything that was happening to which she responded that she was. I think we were all very respectful of each others time and ideas when it came to deadlines. Everyone was very helpful if someone needed clarification on anything which I…

    The Philosophy of Science

    • 405 Words
    • 2 Pages

The philosophy of science is concerned with the assumptions, foundations, methods, implications of science, and with the use and merit of science. This discipline sometimes overlaps metaphysics, ontology and epistemology. Philosophy of science has historically been met with mixed response from the scientific community. Though scientists often contribute to the field, many prominent scientists have felt that the practical effect on their work is limited (Babich, 1994). A paradigm is a world view, a way of ordering and simplifying the perceptual world's stunning complexity by making certain fundamental assumptions about the nature of the universe, of the individual, and of society. Paradigms are normative; they determine what the practitioner views as important and unimportant, reasonable and unreasonable, legitimate and illegitimate, possible and impossible, and what to attend to and what to ignore (Ratcliffe, 1983). Epistemology is “the study of the nature of knowledge and justification” (Schwandt, 2001, p. 71), and epistemological issues are “issues about an adequate theory of knowledge or justificatory strategy” (Harding, 1987). Epistemology is theory of knowledge. Some philosophers are specialist epistemologists who study the components, sources, and limits of knowledge and of the justification of knowledge (Moser, 2002). Blaikie (1993) describes the root definition of ontology as “the science or study of being’ and develops this description for the social sciences to encompass ‘claims about what exists, what it looks like, what units make it up and how these units interact with each other”. In short, ontology describes our view (whether claims or assumptions) on the nature of reality, and specifically, is this an objective reality that really exists, or only a subjective reality, created in our minds.…

Honestly I’m not really good in Science. But I’m striving hard to get along with this subject and the same as Math. This subject is one of my weaknesses among all subjects. But now I can get along with this Science subject and luckily I become a lover of this. For me, the subject teacher really matters on how I want a certain subject. I really love when it’s Science time and I really enjoy this subject and maybe when you will take a time to open my notebooks, my Science notebook is really the best among them. I really love making notes and I really love studying my lessons with this subject especially when I’m with Ivy. I just want to thank Ma’am Pejano for very nice and splendid lessons that she had taught to us. I really learned a lot about this subject even though before I’m not good with this. I just hope and wish that my experienced with Science in my first year as High School will be the same when I come on my 2nd year. I also that the same subject teacher that we have will be the one who will handle our Science subject next school year.…
