In order to have a successful story in a lifestyle change, you must first be ready and willing for that change to happen. It is not something that will happen overnight or magically on its own.
Some things are not easy but are completely worth it in the long haul. You must work at it and be dedicated to a healthier you. I do not have the worst eating habits in the world, but there is always room for some improvements. I don’t usually keep track of what I eat but from being in this class has helped me to notice the bad foods I do eat. I admit, I like fast food, ice cream, cookies, and late night snacks, but I also do not over eat to the point I feel guilty afterwards. My 3-day diet analysis has not changed too much since the first week. I eat three full meals each day with a snack at least once a day. I make sure I only drink water and may treat myself to a soda every now and then when I go out. I did notice that I should incorporate more vegetables into my diet. I am not a fan of vegetables but I will find a way to make them taste better for me so I am able to get their nutritional value. I know they are an important part of my diet. Exercising has not been a big part of my daily routine. It seems the older I get, the less I move around. I know this may make it sound like I am seventy years old and I’m not, so I should have no reason as to why I don’t at least do some light exercises daily. The best thing for me to do and help me get motivated is to set an alarm on my phone or maybe even write down a small schedule to get me started. Even if I just walk up and down the steps five times, it will be a start.
I don’t want to be one of those people that can barely move when they are older because their bones hurt. Maybe if I start stretching each day, it will help prolong that from happening. There are numerous diseases that run in my

My life is an unusual one. My work schedule has me getting up before the sun rises and getting home before lunch time. After I get home, my time is mostly occupied by my two year old daughter. Then, I cook dinner and usually go to bed before the sun sets. Because of the nature of this lifestyle, there is not much time for things like exercise or any other physical activity. Do not get me wrong. I do participate in some mild physical activity associated with chasing my daughter around outside on a nice day or inside when the weather does not cooperate, but I would hardly call that exercise. On top of that, because of my daily routine, I do not have time to really concentrate on what I am…

We’ve heard time and time again during our lives how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables or to have a well-balanced diet. We also know how hard it can be to ensure that you are eating enough of the right thing. Are fast food restaurants as bad as people make them seem? How do you know if your diet contains all of the essential vitamins and minerals? The answers to both of these questions lie in the results from the three-day food intake assignment I participated in. Using the information I recorded in IProfile, I was able to record my intake of protein, carbohydrates and lipids, the amount of fiber intake, and notice pattern or trends in my diet that could be modified.…

“Move Yourself” is a book written by Tedd Mitchell, Tim Church, and Martin Zucker in 2008 about the benefits of exercise. The book also outlines steps that can be taken to slowly improve exercise behaviors for those of any activity level, based on the exercise research performed by the authors. This book was chosen for review after reading a brief description of it. I figured I would gain more personally. After reading others opinion of the book, including those of celebrities, on how this book changed their exercise habits I was sold. The book turned out to be interesting, helpful, and packed full of tools that I plan to implement into a daily routine. During this read I learned just how simple changes can make a big difference. I loved that they incorporated scenarios to better explain some of the concepts.…

On the website it states that my diet is horrible considering what I have consumed in these 3 days I don’t each much and it shows I need to start eating more than what I have been and doing better than what I have consumed. With the Milk intake I only did 1 cup equivalent this is pretty hard to change since I’m lactose intolerant and can’t handle soy well where it should be 3 cup equivalent. The meat and beans intake was at 3.5 oz which I do not eat meat much so this is not a surprise it’s suppose to be 6oz intake. With the Vegetables this is an easy one I love any kind of vegetable and was short these 3 days I had 2 cups intake when it says I should do 3 cups. Fruit intake was 1 cup when it says 2 cups recommended. Grains intake was 3.5oz recommendation is 7oz. All in all I would say I need to work on something’s but I am proud to say I will be working on this.…

    Diet and Exercise Analysis

Over the course of this week I have learned many things about my eating habits. I found that when I am very busy I tend to eat less and healthier. When I am just sitting around I tend to eat more than necessary and the foods are not as good for me. Using this tracker has really helped me to see what I am consuming, as far as carbohydrates, fats, sugars, proteins, sodium, and total calories. I have also been able to tell that the more active I am the more calories that I burn in a day. Before I started using the tracker I never gave much thought to how many calories I was burning just walking around, cleaning, cooking, and working. My eating habits are not the greatest. This week I went to the beach for a couple of days and my eating habits while we were driving to and from Delaware was horrible. I ate fast food and consumed way to much sodium and sugars. When we were cooking for ourselves and walking around all day my numbers were much better. I did notice using this tracker though that I need to eat more vegetables and proteins, and cut back on my sugars. I have a hard time staying under my daily sugar allotment. Overall, I really do need to improve my eating habits.…

At the beginning of this course I was not eating like I was supposed to. I had irregular eating habits that were some-what healthy. Eating three times a day is normal; however, I was lucky to eat one time a day. Skipping the most important meal of the day, which was breakfast, was not benefiting me in any way. I was not consuming enough fruits, vegetables, dairy, protein, and grains. Since the beginning of this course I have already initiated my four nutritional and physical exercise goals by cutting out my fried food intake, reducing my starch intake, decreasing my soda intake, and exercising more.…

Although my mouth waters like Niagara Falls when I think about eating a juicy double cheeseburger with bacon, greasy fries and a scrumptious chocolate milk shake, I try to limit my consumption to twice a month. In an effort to make better fast food choices, I love Chipotle because it’s organic, not fried and include whole grains and vegetables. Eating foods that are good for me fuels my body, as well as gives me the energy and motivation I need to write this amazing essay. Also, eating right allows me to maintain my weight so I can consistently fit into my clothes. In order to maintain my weight, I enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. I would choose a fruit salad over sugary treats any day! My favorite ways to eat vegetables is in a stir fry with rice and chicken or in a salad with ranch dressing. I try to limit the amount of ranch dressing because too much of a good thing isn’t good for you!…

❤ The main thing I stay away from is starchy carbs (no rice, potato, pasta, bread, cereal, etc.) and sweets (with a cheat day once a month because it’s good for your soul :D ). However it’s important to have some carbs (depending what they are) because they’re a great source of energy and certain carbs eliminate bloating. Like oatmeal. I have organic oatmeal with flax and cinnamon every morning to get my body going and to have some energy for the day. I usually eat it with 2 hard boiled eggs or a handful of almonds for protein. I generally have really long work days every day so throughout the day I keep myself energized and my belly full with fruits and veggies with almond butter or nuts, green tea and healthy bars like Think Thins, Live Raw bars or Pure bars. Yes these bars have more calories than a 90 calorie Special K bar but here’s why they’re the smarter choice… The ingredients in a Special K bar aren’t natural and are harder for your body to break down. If you eat snacks that are more natural (Think Thins, Live Raw bars or Pure bars, fruits, veggies, nuts etc) you’ll consume way more calories but your body will be able to process and USE the ingredients for nourishment instead of storing them as fat. For lunch I always have some lean protein with a fruit or veggie like salmon and kale or chicken with hummus and some berries. For dinner I have whichever of the two I didn’t eat for lunch. I usually alternate! I try to have my last meal of the day before 7:30. If I get hungry before bed I will never let myself go to sleep hungry. I’ll just have some fruit or nuts. A glass of dandelion tea before bed is also great for you. A lot of people also say that fruit isn’t good for you because it has a lot of sugar and that avocado or hummus or cashews have too much fat. This is true… fruit has some sugar and some carbs. Nuts and avocado and hummus DO have a lot of fat but they aren’t the kinds of fats that will make you fat. They’re healthy fats. They will nourish your…

According to "English- Word Information" (2003), “Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside” (Quotes: Eating, Food). During the past three days I have been keeping a journal of my meals in order to determine my intake compared to the daily recommended intake (DRI). The results I am about to share with you were very surprising to me.…
