School Uniforms
School uniforms, I think yes.

Imagine a school with no uniforms. There’s mayhem everywhere violence, kids out of control. Now imagine a school with uniforms, their calm, peaceful and no one minds going to that school. That school is safe because of the uniforms the parents spend less money and the kids save time.

Wearing uniforms will help students save time in various ways. Wearing uniforms lets you know what to wear the next day instead of having to decide what you are going to wear, before I had uniforms I had very little sleep. When I got a uniform I got more sleep because I already knew what I was going to wear. In addition uniforms will help you save time so you can eat breakfast. Eating breakfast will get you the vitamins you need to get you through the day. 4 out of 5 doctors agree that uniforms are good for you so you can eat breakfast and that it is healthy. Uniforms are also good because you can do less shopping. I am happy to have a uniform because I can spend less time In those crowded hot malls. You don’t even have to wait a couple weeks if you order your clothes.

Additionally having school uniforms will save you money.it saves students money by not having to buy a whole bunch of clothes you only have to buy like one or two outfits for the whole year. So it would also help you in class because then you would have a clear head not thinking about “how are we going to pay that electric and water bill?” for another example when you grow your clothes will be too small and when you grow you will need a whole new wardrobe all new stuff and everything. Lastly if you save money you can buy school supplies and you will always come to school prepared which means we won’t bug others and we will get good grades because we won’t have an excuse.

Safety for our students is very important. Uniforms will help identify our students who do not belong on campus. This will be very helpful to the school security guard. It would be extremely easy to target

Uniforms would help the students lose the thought of competition or peer pressure. A lot of people believe that they need to be the most popular person in the school. That leads to a competition between other students for stupid ideas like, who dresses better? People actually skip school to avoid embarrassment about their clothing. Students would gain self-esteem from school uniforms because they would not have to participate in the “school fashion show.” Dressing alike makes the students learn that it doesn’t matter what is on the outside but what is in the inside.…

School uniforms are said to be highly beneficial. The case is best stated by Carleton Kendrick Ed.M., LCSW in his article “Reviewing School Uniforms.” “According to proponents of school uniforms, a wealth of potential benefits will follow their adoption: socioeconomic equalization, reduction in student violence and theft (related to clothing), increased attendance, restriction of gang activity, better identification of school intruders, reduction of peer pressure, improved ability to focus in class and better grades” (Kendrick). All good things from both the parents and educator’s viewpoint.…

That would save families hundreds of dollars. Sure, kids would still need clothes other than their uniform, but not as many. Families would also be more time efficient with uniforms. One example of this would be a smaller laundry load. In addition, you wouldn't need to worry about rushing to get something washed for the next day because you already know what you will be wearing.…

School uniforms help improve students behavior in class because they are more focused and feel like they belong. For example students who wear uniforms will have better self-esteem. As stated “uniforms do eliminate competition, pressure and assaults perpetrated by older kids on younger students for their sneakers and possessions. They also help some students focus better In class” (Daniels 1). If lesser students are being picked on because of their clothes more students will have a lot of confidence with their classes. With uniforms students will feel like they belong in class. Also it is proven that less students drop out of school. To illustrate “ a study was released by the Harvard school of education research found that the Long Beach school district ,among six districts in the nations, 34 largest cities dramatically reduced their dropout rate”(Thompson 16). Even though some students don’t like the policy of uniforms they still are ready to be successful. School uniforms have been around just as long as schools themselves, and they play a much bigger role in education than most people think. Uniforms have been proven to promote learning and help kids stay focused in school. Many people believe putting on a uniform resembles a parent putting on a suit, and getting ready for work. It makes the students take a more serious interest in the work they are doing at school. Also, it has been proven that wearing uniforms provides less of a distraction than fashionable clothes create. With uniforms, there is absolutely no controversy over who has the newest, coolest clothes in school.…

An important reason for uniforms is that it would prevent bullying in school. There are a number of students around the country who are fearful of going to school every day because of being bullied. Just because they don't wear the latest fashions, they are insulted constantly. In a lot of public schools, in order to be considered popular, it is important to wear the latest clothing styles. A way to fix this ranking of students by their clothes is school uniforms. If uniforms were worn in public schools, students wouldn't have to worry about the newest clothes or what they wore at all. They wouldn't be able to be picked on because everyone else would be wearing the same thing. Students would look at each other as equals and not bully less fortunate students.…

Having a school uniform will promote learning since school uniforms lessen distractions taking place in the classroom. According to the article “Appearances are Destructive” author Mark Mathabane describes how teachers have shared their frustrations with being unable to teach students willing to learn because they are constantly being disrupted by other students who are concerned about their appearance. These students become so involved in how they look, that they are disturbing the whole class, with careless acts such as combing their hair, changing clothes, comparing labels, and asking other students for their opinion. With a dress code, students are less likely to be distracted by their appearance, and can concentrate on learning. A 2010…
