Summary: School uniform debate and my opinion
There have been many debates on students wearing school uniforms. Kindergarten through twelfth grade students should wear school uniforms as well as the faculty and administration. Mandating school uniforms can bring about significant differences in the school system. Wearing uniforms can lead to safer schools, increasing student learning, and decreasing student behavior problems. The question still remains: Are school uniforms still a bad idea" First, uniforms positively affect student safety by decreasing vandalism, fighting, and hazing. When students wear the uniforms they are no longer being judged by what they wear or what they look like. It no longer matters if one is able to afford the latest fashion. It is sad that today's society has come to a place where students are being beaten up or threatened because they wore something that somebody did not like. Wearing school uniforms completely eliminates that problem. Students wear the exact same thing as everyone at their particular school. Therefore, the fighting over Tommy Hilfigger and Abercrombie and Fitch no longer is an issue. Also, uniforms help identify strangers that may come in the building. If all the students and faculty members are wearing uniforms strangers will easily be identified that could be a possible threat to the well being of that school. Secondly, school uniforms lead to an increase in students learning and their attitude toward school. Students are not being distracted by their neighbor wearing a short skirt and a midriff top or someone wearing all black. Their learning environment has been enhanced because the students are all wearing the same thing. They also raise student pride, achievement, and levels of preparedness. Some students take hours at night picking out what they are going to wear in the morning to school. This takes away from their time they could be...
