Our School Exhibition
Our school held a very interesting exhibition of students' art and craft work last year. Itwas surprising to see the various pieces of handwork of such high standards. Theseexhibits were attractive and colourful for they had been prepared and designed well bythe students with guidance from the Art teachers. The students were obviouslyenthusiastic about their work; for each item was rendered carefully and lovingly withoutthe slightest trace of sloppiness .There were many sections to interest parents and friends who came to see the work of their children. The painting of nature, Malaysian scenes, flowers and fruits was of anexceptionally high standard. Other items such as puppets, dolls and articles of embroidery were admired, too. In the geography section, there were clay models of physical features like hills, mountains and plateaus set in a natural environment of greenlandscape with rivers meandering through the land. Some articles like flowers made from silk were for sale and ladies readily bought theseitems. Our school exhibition was appreciated by all.
Cameron Highlands - a Malaysian Hill Resort
After living in the busy city of Kuala Lumpur with its noise and bustling traffic, it is a pleasure to go up to Cameron Highlands, a cool mountain resort, for relaxation.
Enroute
you will enjoy the scenic countryside as you drive up hilly roads amidst jungletrees, waterfalls and small villages. Then, you feast your eyes each time you pass a flower nursery or a vegetable farm. The cool, crisp air at Tanah Rata makes you feel invigorated. At the same time, you are able to admire the quaint -looking English-style cottages alongthe way. Roses creeping up and clinging to the walls of the cottages remind you of England and the scenery is enchanting if you happen to be a nature-lover. Usually, avisitor gets quite hungry as he goes up the highlands and he is able to enjoy the piping hotmeals served in the restaurants. As the sun goes

The arts section displays attractive paintings of personalities in the tribe, animals, foods, monuments and groups. They point to the fact that creativity in America is not just a modern-day occurrence but something that existed even before the country was officially founded. The painters used bright colors, some of which are symbolic of the message being passed. Information gained from an interview with one of the natives indicates that the tribes use paintings and drawing as an important way of communication and performing various rituals. They also painted various parts of their bodies as a sacred practice in their tribes. Just like in contemporary society, paintings are more than just pieces of art to entertain and display a painter’s creativity but something that has the power to teach, inspire, entertain and preserve information. Therefore, observing paintings and drawings during this event was the most interesting aspect of the show as far as the display of elements that cover beauty is…

The topic that we have learnt was about how to express ourselves. We explored different ways cultures express themselves in different forms of art. Students learnt about the similarities and differences between cultures by reading different genres of books, matching images to cultures, tasting different foods and student presentations. Contemporary art breaks the rules of the past. With the invention of the camera and rapid exchange of ideas via the media, artist not longer need art to record and represent reality. This new sense of freedom opened the floodgates for art to be ‘anything an artist can imagine’ (Rubin, 2010.). Since 1945 and the end of World War II, contemporary art have especially broken away from traditions and rules of the past (Rubins, 2010). Artists can now engage their imaginations. Taking ideas from everyday life and using traditional and non-traditional materials, they seek to produce unforgettable experiences for audiences. Children and students are experiencing this rebirth and are realizing that art is no longer confined to museums, only understood by scholars, and only deemed valuable if their technique can mimic the masters.…

There is a fairly consistent relationship between the investigative studies and the studio work. The student presents and describes art from different cultures and times, and sometimes considers it for its function and significance. The vocabulary used, although simple and descriptive, is generally appropriate. Some effective skills, techniques and processes are employed in the collection of information relevant to waist size and to the binding of feet, but they are not analysed in depth or interpreted and presented beyond a mediocre standard. There is evidence of some organized,…
