School and Shiny Silver Band

Beep. Beep. Beep. My alarm woke me up an hour late for school. I jumped out of bed and threw some clothes on. I drank the tall glass of white milk my mom had set out for me. I headed out the door and jumped over the steps. When the gate slammed shut I remembered that I had forgot to ask my mother for a ride to school. I asked her and of course, she took me to school. My mom taught me all about kindness. I ran into first period, halfway out of breath, and sat in my seat waiting on the students to settle down before the bell rang. Robyn gave me a smirk from across the room. She is my enemy. I brushed her dirty looks off. I thought about how my winter break was wonderful and so relaxing. I saw that Robyn had on all new clothes, which she probably got from her rich relatives. I wondered how she spent her winter break. The bell rang. As Robyn passed my desk she bumped all of my paper off. As my day went on I tried to think positive. I tried to think about was my mom always told me, “Kill them with kindness.” Sometimes I feel like she said that just so I’d be nice to people. I thought about that phrase until lunch time. I went to lunch with my good friends, had some good laughs. As I was walking back to class something caught my eye on the floor next to a locker. It was glistening and beaming into my eyes. I picked it up. It was a beautiful ring. The setting was gorgeous, with a smooth and shiny silver band. I wanted this ring. I knew the right thing to do was turn it into the office. As I walked into the office I so badly wanted to turn around. I knew the right thing to do was to turn it in. As I walked into the office Robyn was sitting in one of the office chairs. She had tears running down her face. I asked the secretary where we turn in found items, she asked what I had, and Robyn jumped out of her seat when the words left my mouth..“A ring.” It was Robyn’s grandmother’s ring.
