“Saan nga ba tayo ihahatid ng Disyembre?”
The play titled “Saan tayo ihahatid ng Disyembre” for me is a very interesting play, at first I was confused about the story but as the play went on and I paid attention I think I may have understood what it is about. It’s about understanding human relationships. An end to a trilogy about love, friendship, how the two cannot do without the other, freedom and choices. A play that reflects what we know of ourselves and the truth about life itself.
The basic conflict is about the love triangle that was introduced in the beginning, where JP returns home after years from being in Washington where he was treated for Schizophrenia and celebrates with his wife, Miren and his best friend Anthony. His best friend took care of his wife while he was away and then suddenly in the play we’ve learned that his wife is pregnant with Anthony’s child. JP feels betrayed and wants to kill Anthony, the next scenes we drew us deeper in JP’s madness, and self destructive emotions ran through his imagination / hallucinations. As the scenes passed the play eventually led us journeying to JP’s healing.
The play was full of symbolisms and hidden meanings to things that tickled my curiosity, like the roses which were often said, the pool under the table, the gun and the unfinished painting. I was mesmerized by the actors’ and actresses’ talents; they were really good at portraying their characters. I liked the way they said their lines and acted like it was really them, giving off strong emotions and feelings every time they said their parts. Even though it was mind boggling at first and confusing, I liked the play. [continues]
