GM 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Overview of Organization
The company that will be the topic of discussion in my final project paper is Rudco Inc. this is a small school bus company. It is privately own and they transport special education children within Passaic, Clifton, Paterson, Totowa and other nearby cities. Even though this is a small company they are very successful at what they do transport special education children. They have been in business for over 25 years.
As any other company Rudco is trying to keep their cost down and improve productivity. I was an accountant/ office manager and dispatcher for Rudco. I worked there for 8 years from 1999 to 2006. During these eight years we were able to improve in many ways but there was a lack of motivation from management to their employees mostly their drivers and aides. Since most of these employees are not professionals they really don’t know how to ask and request certain benefits from the company.
Preliminary Problem Statement
Since this is a small company the decisions are made between the two owners, and sometimes the point of view of other employees are not taken into consideration. I feel that sometimes management decisions and motivating methods are not the best for their employees. While I worked there management didn’t really didn’t have a specific method and/or system for motivating their employees to do better and work harder. This paper will try to appraise a manager’s motivation methods and how they influence performance. I will look at the way they motivate their employees and ways to improve their productivity.
