The Responsive Space® 2009 Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the
Responsive Space® Conference Student Scholarship
Purpose: To encourage and promote student participation in the quest for developing the technologies and processes to enable more responsive space missions.
Eligibility: Any student presently enrolled at a U.S. college or university (full or part-time) who is submitting an abstract for a paper to the Responsive Space® Conference, held April 27- 30, 2009 in Los Angeles, CA, and who will be presenting that paper if it is accepted for the conference. Applications must be received by January 16, 2009. All student papers must be the exclusive work of the student author.
Criterion: Merit, based upon the submitted abstract, advisor’s letter of recommendation, and curriculum vitae. Each student must also submit a requested budget.
Award: The cash award will cover expenses for travel, lodging, meals, and conference registration (student rate). The maximum total award is $1,000 for conference related travel expenses only, plus a $500 award per paper. Up to two papers will be selected each year.
Administration: The Student Scholarship subcommittee will select award winner(s) based upon the relevant information contained in the abstract, letter of recommendation, and curriculum vitae. The subcommittee will make these selections after conferring with Responsive Space® Conference Organizing Committee. The amount awarded will be based on the budget requested by the student, and will not exceed $1,000. Unless otherwise arranged, student award winners will make all travel arrangements and pay for all expenses up front, with the exception of the conference registration fee. At the conclusion of the conference the student will provide the scholarship subcommittee with receipts for all travel, lodging, and meal expenses.
