MATLAMAT (GOALS) : This course is designed to produce a competent engineer who has a strong knowledge in mechanics of material and able to transfer their knowledge in solving problems related to strength of material.

SINOPSIS (SYNOPSIS) :
This course will cover the introduction to stress and strain concept. Then, shear force and bending moment will

be introduced in chapter two. Later, it moves into bending stress and subsequent chapter is torsion. The last two chapters are thin cylinder and stress analysis.

HASIL PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OUTCOMES) : At the end of this course, the students would be able to: (1) apply the basic concept of stress, strain and mechanics deformation of solids (2) construct the shear diagram and moment diagram for beams under different loading condition (3) explain the principle of mechanics of material such as bending and torsion and relate it to thin cylinder/combined stress.
